Prior to HZ054, ordered by his father, he was tasked to locate Laqua‎, in order to find the Rakurium, but failed the mission given by him.

Pokémon Horizons: The Series

In HZ054, after Amethio finished meeting with his grandfather, he mentioned that he wouldn't follow his father's footstep of failing to locate Laqua‎.

In HZ065, when Gibeon expelled Amethio from the Explorers, Gibeon asked if history would repeat itself, indicating that Amethio's father had also abandoned his purpose for the Explorers.
