Dustox (Japanese: ドクケイル Dokucale) is a dual-type Bug/Poison Pokémon.

It evolves from Cascoon starting at level 10. It is one of Wurmple's final forms.

Biology

Physiology

Dustox are moth-like Pokémon with vaguely egg-shaped purple bodies and usually green wings. These wings have red circles and streaks on them and appear tattered. They have yellow antennae that resemble Charti Berries, and yellow eyes that resemble stylized compound eyes. Dustox’s legs are stubby and red in coloration, and Dustox has a jagged fringe on its rear.

Gender differences

A female has smaller antennae than a male.

Special abilities

Dustox's antennae are often used to seek out food, and its wings contain a highly poisonous dust. Despite its typing and lack of the ability Levitate it can fly quite easily.

Behavior

Dustox are nocturnal, and are instinctively drawn to light. Swarms of Dustox are attracted by the bright light of cities, where they wreak havoc by stripping the leaves off roadside trees for food. If attacked as a Cascoon, a Dustox will always remember the face of the attacker, and will seek revenge upon evolution.

Habitat

Dustox live in forests, much like its pre-evolutions, Wurmple and Cascoon.

Diet

Dustox eat leaves.

In the anime

Many Dustox participating in the mating season. Jessie's is wearing ribbons, and a shiny one is next to it.

Major appearances

Jessie's Dustox

Jessie's Cascoon evolved into Dustox in Seeing is Believing. It was her primary contest Pokémon and was also known to be able to hold down a good battle. Dustox won Jessie her first ribbon in Team Shocker! at the Solaceon Town Contest.

Jessie's Dustox is seen wearing yellow ribbons on its antennae, the same ribbons Jessie wore in contest. In Crossing Paths she painfully released it, so that it could go off during the Dustox Mating Season. Jessie's Dustox left with a Shiny Dustox along with a big flock of other Dustox.

In the manga

Dustox debuts in its own round, VS. Dustox. Ruby accidentally grabbed one of its wings, angering it and inciting it to attack. Though the boy initially had a hard time confronting it due to his impartiality towards battling, Zuzu eventually felled it with a Water Gun.
