Goals
- Create concise articles on all aspects of the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
- Working to ensure all articles covering individual cards match the current standard (see to-do list).
To-do list
- Improve the quality of the main Pokémon Trading Card Game article.
- Update all Pokémon card articles that currently use the
{{Graytable}}
template for Pokédex entries and replace it with the{{Carddex}}
template. - Add Japanese text and/or translations to Pokédex entries, attacks, or abilities that still require them.
- Add good quality images for cards that still require them and where possible, replace Japanese card images with English ones.
Structure
Main card articles
The standard structure for each Pokémon card article is listed below; good example articles are Charizard and Dark Metal Energy.
The article should start off with the relative Infobox template. For example, a Pokémon card would use the PokémoncardInfobox template. The name of the card should follow, then a brief summary of the card that may include type, stage, class, or the set it was released in. Afterwards, all cards should follow the format as detailed below.
==Card text==
Any Pokémon Powers, Poké-Bodies, Poké-Powers, Abilities, Attacks or effects as detailed on the card are put under this heading.
- ===Pokédex data===
- Statistics, such as the Pokémon's number, Height, Weight, and Pokédex entry as detailed on the card are put here.
==Release information==
In the event of a particular card being reprinted or promotional cards, information regarding other expansion(s) the card was released in, or how the card was distributed, including text/art changes should be detailed here.
==Trivia==
Any useful or interesting facts about the card, including for example, limited numbers or errata should be detailed here. Multiple facts should be separated with bullet points.
- ===Origin===
- Attacks, Pokédex entries, characters, or items that originate from, or are derived from the Pokémon games are detailed here.
Cards by Pokémon articles
These pages are designed to serve as definitive references for all variations of each Pokémon species that has been featured on a card. Each page should start with how many card iterations of that Pokémon there has been (using the expression {{#expr: {{PAGESINCATEGORY:{{{Card Name}}}}} - 1}}), followed by the expansion it debuted in and any special sets it has been the main focus of. A good example article is Pikachu, as it covers all eras of the TCG. Ensure that the article also references the relevant Pokédex number in the category link at the bottom of the page.
Card images
Ideally, any images should be of a high enough quality so that the main artwork can be clearly seen and all text can be discerned. The preferred format for card images is .jpg. All card images from expansion sets or half decks should conform to the standard naming convention, which constitutes of Pokémon name (as it is on the card), the set name, and the set number with no spaces. For example, the Charizard card from Base Set is named CharizardBaseSet4.jpg. Ensure that no watermarks or other obtrusive marks are present and if possbile, the card is not skewed.
Key templates
When entering information into any of the infoboxes, ensure that you preview before saving the page, as minor mistakes in spelling may make portions of them not work. Instructions on how each of the infoboxes work can be found on their respective discussion pages. As the TCG is a constantly evolving game, new parameters may be added to accomodate new game mechanics. Refer to these pages, or inspect the templates themselves to see new changes.

{{TCG Pre-prerelease}}
|
|

Link templates
These link templates are particularly useful for making lists of the cards available in the different sets or theme decks.
{{TCG}}
- This link template is for cards which appear widely in the game, such as energy cards. To use this link template, type in {{TCG|Card Name}}. For example, {{TCG|Dark Metal Energy}} would result in Dark Metal Energy.{{TCG ID}}
- This link template is for cards which appear in only certain sets, such as Pokémon cards and trainer cards. To use this link template, type in {{TCG ID|Set Name|Card Name|Number}}. For example, {{TCG ID|Base Set|Charizard|4}} would result in Charizard.{{ct}}
- This link template is to link to the TCG types, much like the{{type}}
template links to types from the handheld games.
