Protection, yes or yes?

Also, should there be a suggestion thingy for new things to add? TTEchidnaGSDS! 03:42, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

I choose the left yes. Also, I think there should be a suggestion thing.. ;>_> Tina δ 03:44, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Suggestions for additions

If there were a way to add all of the link templates here for use... TTEchidnaGSDS! 03:47, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

How about the katakana characters? Or would that be too much? It would be convenient for those of us who don't have Japanese keyboards. --ケンジ ガール 09:36, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
↑This. I know the conversation is more than 6 months old, but I consider it worth of being restarted. This may seem a little space-wasting, but I'm trying to suggest the use of an expandable content corner ([show]) after "Katakana characters". It's not just for normal writing. This would help on articles about glitch pokémon, as many of them make editors see themselves forced to copypaste from another page during the creation of a new one. Specialy the u (ゥ) and the a (ァ). New Suggestion

Is it possible to add link templates to the palette (Like {{Ash}}, {{MTR}}, and even {{p| }})? That would make it a whole lot easier to edit. If there are arrows on the palette that nobody ever uses, why shouldn't a few link templates be on it??? --Theryguy512 23:28, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

No. TTEchidna 02:40, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
K. Just a suggestion. --Theryguy512 02:41, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
What about the m-dashes and n-dashes? — (ALT+0151) and – (ALT+0150)... That might prevent the use of "text--moretext", which kinda looks ugly and isn't really correct anyway. ~ overgrownsol 02:52, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
— and – is what I use. But sure. TTEchidna 03:06, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Wiki

What about <nowiki> </nowiki>? Just a suggestion. シンジShinjiLover,Edits 03:10, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Just use the button_nowiki.png button? - Kogoro | Talk to me - 03:14, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Please

If this template is indeed included onto every edit page (as opposed to a copy of this), please add an id parameter on the div tag so this box could be stylized with user CSS. The current white box doesn't go well with my dark theme. :] UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 13:11, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

Suggestion

A "|" would be awesome. I am wearing down my "c" and my "v" with all the copy/pasting. Focus58 18:07, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

You mean "|", the key that separates columns in tables and such? It should be right above the enter key if you hold shift. At least it is on every keyboard I've ever seen. It might look like two lines. Mine does. But when I type it, it comes out like |. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 18:13, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
You just saved my "c" and "v." ♣♣ Ƒǿҫὑṩ ❺❽ ♣♣ 19:57, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

There's a MediaWiki page for this

It's called MediaWiki:Edittools, and there's one called MediaWiki:Charinsert-desc that's related to it. Why is this a template and not on the MediaWiki page? Pikachu Bros. (talk) 16:51, 6 January 2015 (UTC)

This was simply the method that was chosen by the staff back in 2006. Since it's not harming anything to remain as a template, and works as it is intended to work, we have little reason to bother changing it at this time. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 09:52, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

Extra spaces

Is there a reason there are two extra spaces before and after the character palette? I always notice them while checking articles for accidental double spaces. I don't know enough about wikicode to see how they end up there, or to know if there's a reason they need to be there. If they can be removed, it might save bytes, though it is only 4 extra characters. No big emergency, it just has me curious. Landfish7 01:52, 4 June 2022 (UTC)
