Plot

As the Brave Olivine heads to Paldea, Friede discusses taking a job to raise funds. Roy asks if adventuring is the Rising Volt Tacklers' job, but Friede says adventuring doesn't put food on the table. Murdock thinks he could deliver sweets while Orla asks her old work buddies who know anyone in need of mechanical repairs. Mollie asks Dot to make her a publicity video for medical consultations, and Murdock asks for one about his sweets, which Dot thinks is too much work. Roy volunteers to do heavy lifting. Liko says that she'll do anything, but Friede reminds her that she has classes. As Terapagos sneaks into Liko's backpack, Liko has a talk with Ann, who is amazed that she caught a Hatenna in Galar. Classes begin, with Liko's homeroom teacher giving out an assignment. Students are to pick a trainer and their Pokémon partner they know and look up to and write a report on them. Looking at Sprigatito, Liko thinks on who to write the report about. Hearing Friede's voice, she gets an idea. Friede has found a friend who wants them to find their lost Pokémon. Friede offers to go alone, until Liko and Roy offer to come with him, the former wanting her report to be about Friede and Captain Pikachu.

Friede and the kids arrive at a shack in a desert. Friede tells Liko and Roy to stay close to him. The man at the bar comes over and greets Friede. Liko and Roy introduce themselves, as does the man, whose name is Shine. At the table, Shine shows the group a picture of his Pokémon he wants them to find, a Bramblin that he caught in Paldea. He also tells them to be wary of Pokémon poachers who have been sighted snatching up random wild Pokémon out there. Friede tells Liko that Shine works as a protector of wild Pokémon, and catching Pokémon stealers is part of his job. Liko is amazed by how reliable Friede and Cap are.

The group thinks that finding a tumbleweed looking Pokémon that blows in the wind will be difficult. Cap spots Bramblin behind a nearby bush, and Roy calls out to it. The Tumbleweed Pokémon is picked up by the wind and rolls away, Friede and Liko following behind. Cap tries to catch it, but misses. Bramblin goes behind a large rock, and Roy tries to catch up to it. However, he runs into the back of something gray and a herd of Rhyhorn glare at the group before they are are chased out of their territory. Although they lost track of Bramblin, Friede looks at a sign that shows a desert to the left and an oasis to the right. He proposes heading left since Brambalin don’t like getting wet, but Cap thinks it went the other way. As the two start to butt heads about which way Bramblin went, Liko acknowledges that they do have their differences. The kids spots Bramblin hanging from a tree on the high cliff above, remarking that both Friede and Cap were wrong, which embarrasses them. The wind blows Bramblin away again, so they go after it. Arriving at the desert, the group comes across a huge trail of tumbleweeds which Bramblin could blend with very well. After they searches the tumbleweeds for Bramblin without success, Liko watches the tumbleweeds, she eventually spots Bramblin among them, Terapagos falling out of her backpack as she gets up. Friede and Roy come over, but Bramblin is already gone.

Bramblin continues rolling with the wind, and a net from two poachers catches it. The boss of the poachers inspects the Pokémon that they caught, but isn’t impressed by the results her crew has given her, wanting cute Pokémon instead. The other two poachers arrive to show her the Bramblin they snagged. The boss has a hard time believing it’s cute, but she still decides to take it anyway. Meanwhile, Friede, Liko and Roy go around a town asking people about Bramblin, but they have no leads. Cap becomes annoyed when he spots to girls behind him calling him cute. This causes him to enter a sneezing fit, to which Friede points out that his allergy is acting up, being allergic to those around him thinking he’s cute. They exit the town, Friede reassuring Liko and Roy that being popular has its perks, to which an annoyed Cap pulls on his goggles and cheeks. Liko starts questioning whether this is the ideal bond she is going for. Friede and Liko arrive at an oasis and hide from some of the poachers, who they find out took Bramblin. Friede steps out to confront the poachers. After tying them up, Friede calls Shine to pick them up. With that, the group decides to go where their leader is, which is where Bramblin is most likely being held.

They arrive to rescue Bramblin from the boss and her crew. An annoyed boss wakes up, complaining about the rude awakening as her crew sends out Omastar, Low Key Toxtricity and Mudsdale. Toxtricity and Omastar use Acid Spray and Rock Blast, which Cap avoids and deflects without problem. Cap blows them both back with Thunder Punch, but when he goes for Mudsdale, it doesn’t have any effect due to the Draft Horse Pokémon being a Ground type. To make matters worse, when Cap catches the boss’s eye, she fawns over his cuteness, causing his allergy to kick in again. Mudsdale uses Mud-Slap, Toxtricity uses Acid, and Omastar uses Water Gun, all of which Cap still manages to avoid even in his fit of sneezing. Liko and Roy decide to step in as well, commanding Sprigatito and Fuecoco to use Ember and Leafage. Mudsdale uses Bulldoze to throw Cap, Sprigatito and Fuecoco off balance. Seeing this, Bramblin uses Power Whip on the cage. The boss sends out Avalugg, having it use Blizzard to cool down the captured Pokémon. Friede decides to avoid being reckless before noticing a brief glow from Bramblin. Cap exchanges a look with Friede, who claims that breaking through by force is their best option. Cap doesn’t agree with this, and the two start to argue. Cap suddenly runs off and Friede sulks at his behavior, leaving the kids to handle matters. Liko again finds herself questioning their ideal bond, thinking she’ll have to revise her report. Liko and Roy get back to facing the poachers. Fuecoco counters Toxtricity's Thunder Shock with Ember, and Sprigatito meets Omastar’s Water Gun with Leafage. Both sides are blown back, and Mudsdale uses Bulldoze again, but Sprigatito and Fuecoco avoid it. Cap suddenly jumps down from a cliff and gets the drop on Avalugg with Thunder Punch, knocking it out. Mudsdale tries to use Mud-Slap on Cap, but he avoids it, hopping over the Draft Horse Pokémon. Friede praises Cap, leaving Liko very confused. Bramblin then darts around the cage using Rapid Spin. The energy output evolves it into Brambleghast, who uses a stronger Power Whip to break all the Pokémon out. Friede reveals that Friede and Cap planned the whole thing to get the poachers to take their eyes off the cage. The boss stomps over, getting Friede and Cap to think she'll call him cute again, only to declare that Cap is not cute at all. Toxtricity and Omastar use Acid Spray and Rock Blast, which Cap avoids and retaliates with Thunder Punch, sending them high into the air. Mudsdale charges up for Stomp, but as Omastar and Toxtricity come down, Cap sends them into flying into Mudsdale with Thunder Punch, sending all three Pokémon into the cage. The boss is left saddened at her loss as Friede and Cap celebrate their victory, with Liko amazed by their teamwork.

Back on the ship, Liko gives her report to the class. She says that she can't describe what makes Friede and Cap so good together, but she does know this: When she's with those two, she feels overwhelming excitement. Sure they have been in some tight spots, but getting through it with them has made her feel a lot stronger. She ends her report by saying she wants to be a trainer like Friede someday.
