Featured sync pairs | Poppy & Tinkaton |
Strong AND Amazing (Japanese: つよくてすごいのです! Strong and Amazing!) was a time trial event in Pokémon Masters EX. It was focused on the sync pair Poppy & Tinkaton.
The "Poppy Poké Fair Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Poppy & Tinkaton from the beginning of the event to June 5, 2024.
During this event, players could challenge battles that had a timer to try to achieve the fastest possible time. They would receive a grade based on how quickly the battle was completed, and each grade awarded a different number of points. Players could earn various rewards based on the total number of points accumulated, including 5★ Scout Tickets and a 5★ Power-Up. A special story area could be unlocked after accumulating 10,000 points.
Event missions could be completed by clearing the battles in a certain amount of time, as well as clearing the battles quickly while using sync pairs with certain theme skills. Completing these awarded players with various rewards, such as Gems, medals, and Yellow Skill Feathers.
Initially, only four missions were available; additional missions were added over the first seven days of the event. Several of these could only be completed by clearing Challenge Raihan, which was unlocked on May 20, 2024. The 3★ and 4★ medals for this event could only be obtained after this battle was unlocked.
In addition, the music and artwork on the title screen were different than usual. The title screen artwork depicted Poppy & Tinkaton and Rika & Clodsire, and the background music was Battle! (Paldea Elite Four: Poppy) (Pokémon Masters EX Version). In addition, a special voice-over line of Poppy or Rika saying "Pokémon Masters EX" would play as soon as the game's logo appeared on the title screen, chosen at random each time the game was loaded.
Plot
The player and several other Trainers who are competing in Pasio's time trials, including Raihan, are checking the rankings. They discover that the person in first place right now is a Trainer named Poppy, whom no one knows much about. Raihan notices that second place is Rika, making him realize Poppy must be strong if they're able to beat a member of the Paldea Elite Four. Raihan and wonders what Poppy is like, and the player suggests they're a muscled body builder like Bruno or a seasoned veteran like Opal. Suddenly, a young girl appears who says she knows Poppy, and Raihan asks if she can get him a battle with Poppy. She agrees and leads Raihan and the player to a field, where they can battle without damaging any of the surroundings. The girl then says she's gonna show him what she's all about and sends out her Tinkaton to battle.
Letting his guard down because she's a kid, Raihan is defeated by the young girl. He's frustrated to lose, but he's finally realized that this girl is Poppy. Rika arrives, calling out to Poppy, and reveals that Poppy is also a member of the Elite Four and possibly even stronger than Rika herself. Raihan says he felt that strength firsthand. Rika tells Poppy that they need to leave because the boss is looking for them, so Poppy says good-bye to the player and Raihan and hopes they can play again sometime. As the two leave, Raihan vows that he won't lose next time and observes that they've got another strong Trainer to contend with.

(City; the player and Raihan are looking at a screen)
<player> and some other Trainers competing in the time trials were checking their rankings...
Raihan | Let's see... Who's number one right now? |
Ace Trainer (1) | That "Poppy" person in first place...I hear they're really strong. |
Ace Trainer (2) | Yeah, I've heard rumors that their Pokémon is super powerful. |
Raihan | Poppy, huh...? Never heard of 'em. Looks like Rika is in second. Wow, the rumors about Poppy must be true if they're able to beat a member of the Paldea Elite Four! I wonder what they're like? Must be someone like Bruno...: Hahaha! Yeah, maybe this Poppy's got some steel-hard muscles too! A seasoned veteran, maybe?: Heh, yeah, must be an oldster like Opal... |
??? | Excuse me... Did I hear right? You're looking for Poppy? |
(Poppy appears behind the player and Raihan, and they turn around to face her)
Raihan | Oh hey, kiddo. You know Poppy? |
??? | Do I know Poppy? Of course! How could I not? |
Raihan | Cool! Then can I ask you a favor? We're itching for a battle! Could you hook us up? |
??? | Okey dokey! Just follow me, then! |
(Poppy walks away) | |
Raihan | All right, <player>! Looks like we'll get to see Poppy's talent with our own eyes! |
(Poppy, Raihan, and the player arrive in a field)
Raihan | Uh...is this where we're gonna battle Poppy? |
??? | Yep! We'd probably break a bunch of stuff if we battled in town! Now... I'm gonna show you what I'm all about! |
(Poppy pulls out a Poké Ball and sends out Tinkaton, shocking Raihan and the player) |
- The Girl's True Identity

(Field; Poppy and Tinkaton are battling Raihan and Duraludon)
Raihan | I let my guard down 'cause she's just a kid... This isn't looking good! The dragon roars! Let's do it, Duraludon! |
(Duraludon attacks Tinkaton)
??? | Your Pokémon might be tough, mister... but my Pokémon is even tougher—your attacks are gonna bounce right off! Knock 'em down, Tinkie! |
(Tinkaton attacks Duraludon, knocking it out)
Raihan | Are you serious?! |
(Cut to after the battle)
Raihan | In the aftermath of a furious battle, I feel as pure and refreshed as when the sky clears after a storm. Ah, who am I kidding?! So...I think it's safe to assume that— |
??? | Hey, Poppy! Looks like you got <player> to play with you, eh? |
(Rika appears) | |
Raihan | You must be... |
Rika | Hey hey! Rika here, at your service! |
Raihan | I figured! Anyways... Yep, I guess this kid really is that "Poppy" we've been hearing about. |
Poppy | I thought I'd made that clear... |
Raihan | Ah, you probably did. Sorry we didn't pick up on it, Poppy! |
Rika | She might be little, but she's a member of the Elite Four. In fact, she may even be stronger than me. |
Poppy | You bet I am! |
Raihan | Haha... I definitely felt that strength firsthand! |
Rika | All right, Poppy, let's head back. The boss wants to see us. |
Poppy | OK! Bye-bye, you two! I had sooo much fun! Hope we get to play again! |
(Rika and Poppy leave, and Raihan and the player wave after them)
Raihan | Yeah! I won't lose next time! Looks like we've got another strong Trainer on our hands, huh, <player>? |
(The player strikes a confident pose) |
