Extreme battle event
Extreme battle events[note 1] (Japanese: 高難度バトルイベント High Difficulty Battle Event) are a type of limited-time event in Pokémon Masters EX. They feature high-difficulty battles that are designed to be completed with a certain sync pair, usually a Master Fair-exclusive sync pair or a sync pair released alongside a villain event. They also give a strength bonus to sync pairs with certain theme skills. Completing a battle with sync pairs that do not receive a strength bonus is incredibly difficult, so this restricts players' team options.
Players can earn Gems as first-time rewards for completing each battle in an extreme battle event.
Ancient Brawl
This event first ran from June 3 to 21, 2021. It followed up on the Land and Sea Awaken special event and the Masters of Land and Sea story event. The "Fight the Land Incarnate!" battles were designed to be completed with Archie & Kyogre, and the "Fight the Sea Incarnate!" battles were designed to be completed with Maxie & Groudon.
Players could also earn special Team Magma and Team Aqua Pins by completing event battles and missions. If a player completed all battles and missions in this event, they would receive four of each type of pin; however, five pins are required to unlock the maximum level cap of a piece of gear. Only a Team Aqua Pin was given to all players as a reward from the Land and Sea Awaken event, meaning it was impossible for anyone to unlock the maximum level cap of a Team Magma Pin.
All sync pairs with the Hoenn theme skill received a ×5.0 bonus to their Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk and Sp. Def stats when used for this event.
This event reran from August 15 to 28, 2022. In this run, there were no event missions, and the number of pins rewarded after battle was increased so that players could unlock the maximum level cap of both their pins by completing all battles. In addition, each Part 1 battle had to be completed to unlock the corresponding Part 2 battle.
