Threads of Strength (Japanese: 紡がれる最強の物語 The Strongest Story Ever Told) was a story event in Pokémon Masters EX. It was focused on the sync pairs Sygna Suit Cynthia (Aura) & Lucario and Sygna Suit Red (Thunderbolt) & Pikachu.

First run

The event first ran from August 30 to October 3, 2022. The "Sygna Suit Cynthia Master Fair Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Sygna Suit Cynthia (Aura) & Lucario for the duration of the event, and the "Sygna Suit Red Master Fair Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Sygna Suit Red (Thunderbolt) & Pikachu starting on September 1, 2022, and lasting until the end of the event.

In this run, players could earn Event Vouchers V from battles that could be redeemed in the shop. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except Daily Extreme Battle 1, which could only be challenged once per day. Extra vouchers were automatically exchanged with coins once the event was finished.

The player could battle using Sygna Suit Cynthia (Aura) & Lucario or Sygna Suit Red (Thunderbolt) & Pikachu to obtain +0.6× bonus vouchers; Blue & Pidgeot, Lucas & Dialga, or Kris & Totodile/Croconaw/Feraligatr to obtain +0.4× bonus vouchers; and Hop & Zamazenta, Professor Oak & Mew, Scottie/Bettie & Pikachu, Scottie/Bettie & Torchic, or any unlisted Electric- or Fighting-type sync pairs to obtain +0.2× bonus vouchers.

This run featured the Battle Challenge, where players were challenged to defeat a team of strong opponents. Players could complete event missions by clearing these areas with teams using various theme skills, earning medals and other rewards.

In addition, players could earn a medal for completing all the story areas in the event.

Second run

The event reran from September 6 to 22, 2024 as a part of the Five-Year Anniversary Rerun Event. This run only contained the story areas; the vouchers and battle areas did not return. In addition, no missions were available, and no medals could be earned.

Kris	Yeah! We all get together like this once in a while. We're studying together under Professor Oak!
Hop	We were just sharing our thoughts on a recent discovery!
Cynthia	You're so kind to young Trainers. Professor Rowan is the same.
Professor Oak	They are the future, after all. Now then, what was it you wanted to talk about?
Cynthia	Well, I was hoping you could tell me about Red...
Professor Oak	Red? Oh yes, I heard the two of you will be battling against each other soon.
Kris	We'll be over there if you need us.
Hop	Yeah.

Cynthia	I heard that you were the one who gave Red his Pokédex and sent him on his adventure.
Professor Oak	He traveled with his Pokémon and grew even more than I could imagine.

(The Lass and Youngster leave; Cynthia and the Camper wave goodbye)

(The Camper turns around nervously)

Camper	That's amazing. You saw right through us with just a quick glance.
("Red" turns back into a Ditto)
Camper	I once saw Red take down Team Rocket. He was so strong and cool. I wanted to be just like him. My friends and I got so excited talking about Red that I just sort of blurted out that I was his friend. Once I said that, I couldn't just take it back, so I had Ditto transform to fake it.
(Ditto cries out)
Camper	I'm sorry I lied!
Cynthia	It's admirable that you want to be strong like Red, but lying isn't OK. Lying will only run you into a corner, like what happened to you today. Also, I'm not the one you should be apologizing to... Right?
Camper	R-right! I need to tell everyone the truth!
(The Camper and Ditto walk away)
Kris	He couldn't help fudging the truth a little to impress his friends, huh...
Hop	I get it, though. I really admire Champions, too!
(Lucas laughs; Cynthia notices Lucario is sensing something)
Cynthia	What's wrong? Are you sensing a strong aura like Red's again? Or do you sense a bad presence?
(Lucario cries out; transition to another part of the forest, where the Team Rocket Grunts have captured the Lass and the Youngster)
Lass	Waaaaaah!
Youngster	Hey! Cut it out!
Camper	Ugh...
Team Rocket Grunt	So, you're a friend of Red's? If we take you hostage, Red won't be able to lay a finger on us.
Camper	C-Cynthia was right... This is all because of my stupid lie...
Team Rocket Grunt	What are you mumbling about? Shut your mouth and sit still!
(The grunt sends out a Raticate)
Camper	H-help...
(Raticate attacks)
Camper	Help us, Red!
(An electric shock stops Raticate's attack, and Red appears)
Team Rocket Grunt	R-Red?! You showed up sooner than expected. But not even you can battle while protecting this many people on your own!

(Red grunts, and he and Cynthia begin to battle)

(Lucario and Pikachu collide, and Mew twirls across the sky; fade to white)
With all these combinations of people and Pokémon... and all the sync pairs that can form teams with each other... this world will always be expanding with unlimited potential!

• This event's English title may be a play on the word "threads", which can refer either to clothes or to a theme running throughout a situation or piece of writing.
• This is one of only two story events in which the player can battle a villainous team other than Team Break, the other event being A Golden Future.
