Shine a Gentle Light (Japanese: 街を照らす優しい明かり A Gentle Light Illuminating the City) was a story event in Pokémon Masters EX. It was focused on the sync pairs Jasmine (Holiday 2022) & Ampharos and Whitney (Holiday 2022) & Sawsbuck.
During this event, players could earn two types of tickets from battles that could be redeemed in the shop. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except Daily Extreme Battle 1, which could only be challenged once per day. Extra tickets were automatically exchanged with coins once the event was finished.
This event featured the Battle Challenge, where players were challenged to defeat a team of strong opponents. Players could complete event missions by clearing these areas with teams using various theme skills, earning medals and other rewards.
In addition, players could earn a medal for completing all the story areas in the event.
This event is the only way to obtain
Song Key No. 00035, which allows "Starlight Party" to be played in the Jukebox.
First run
The event first ran from December 14, 2022, to January 1, 2023. The "Jasmine Seasonal Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Jasmine (Holiday 2022) & Ampharos for the duration of the event, and the "Whitney Seasonal Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Whitney (Holiday 2022) & Sawsbuck starting on December 16, 2022, and lasting until the end of the event.
In this run, the two types of tickets that players could earn were Winter Tickets and Super Winter Tickets. The player could battle using Jasmine (Holiday 2022) & Ampharos or Whitney (Holiday 2022) & Sawsbuck to obtain +0.6× bonus tickets; Leon (Holiday 2021) & Calyrex, Nessa (Holiday 2021) & Eiscue, Skyla (Holiday 2020) & Togekiss, Erika (Holiday 2020) & Comfey, Rosa (Holiday 2019) & Delibird, or Siebold (Holiday 2019) & Octillery to obtain +0.4× bonus tickets; and any unlisted Ice-type sync pairs to obtain +0.2× bonus tickets.
Event mission rewards included medals, Gems, Battle Points, a Strike Move Candy Coin, and a Support Move Candy Coin.
Second run
The event reran from December 19, 2023, to January 2, 2024. The "Super Spotlight Seasonal Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Jasmine (Holiday 2022) & Ampharos, Whitney (Holiday 2022) & Sawsbuck, Leon (Holiday 2021) & Calyrex, Nessa (Holiday 2021) & Eiscue, Skyla (Holiday 2020) & Togekiss, Erika (Holiday 2020) & Comfey, Rosa (Holiday 2019) & Delibird, and Siebold (Holiday 2019) & Octillery for the duration of the event.

Plot
At the snow-covered town, Whitney finds Jasmine worrying over her Ampharos, who appears to be fatigued. Whitney leads Jasmine to the Pokémon Center to get Ampharos looked at, but Trista is unable to find anything wrong with its health. She suspects Ampharos could be upset due to being in a new environment, like Pasio, and suggests the remedy may be to cheer her up somehow. Whitney decides that the best way to do this would be to throw a party
Working with Erika at the town, Jasmine pushes herself to prepare the party before sunset. Ethan joins the two and volunteers to help, worried about another instance of an Ampharos falling ill. This prompts Jasmine to explain to Erika how Ethan had helped Amphy in the past, and how her Ampharos had been raised to become Amphy's successor.
Elsewhere, Whitney recruits Siebold to prepare a feast for the party. She mentions to him that there is a certain ingredient she is looking for, but doesn't specify what it is. Suddenly, there is a rumbling sound, and some nearby Trainers point out that some lights have suddenly turned off.
Jasmine, Erika, and Ethan find Volkner, who they learn has triggered a blackout after trying to set up some lights for the party. Jasmine explains to the others that she had met Volkner in Sunyshore City while visiting the lighthouse, saying she had heard rumors about him. When Volkner asks what she means by this, she hesitates to elaborate. Volkner offers to show them more inventions of his, but Jasmine is quick to shut him down.
Meanwhile, Whitney and Leon are having a battle as Nessa stands by to watch. When they finish, Leon gives Whitney a certain item as a gift for accepting his challenge. Nessa attempts to ask her why she needs the item, but Whitney doesn't answer, abruptly encouraging the two to come to the party.
After the sun sets, Jasmine and Whitney begin their party, thanking all of the guests for their help with setting it up. As everyone mingles, Trista stops over by Jasmine to ask about Ampharos. To everyone's delight, Jasmine announces that Ampharos seems to be feeling better. Whitney then comes over to give Jasmine and Ampharos a gift—a drink made from Moomoo Milk and several other energizing ingredients. Jasmine gives some to Ampharos, and the drink succeeds in cheering her up. Jasmine is relieved, but suddenly, her eyes fall shut and she collapses.
Everyone crowds around Jasmine, and Whitney tearfully asks Trista if she is okay. In the distance, Cyrus and his Commanders notice a light shining from the village. The light reminds Cyrus of a lighthouse's beacon, and he notes its ability to guide someone down the right path. He then moves on with his group, believing to have no use for such a thing.
Finding herself in a dark void, Jasmine searches for her friends. She sees a bright flash of light, then decides to run after it, believing it will bring her home. Soon after, Jasmine regains consciousness as her friends stare over her. While everyone else celebrates Jasmine waking up, Whitney yells at her for fainting, then turns away to cry. Jasmine apologizes, then thanks Whitney for worrying about her. She speaks with her, managing to cheer her up, and the party continues.
The day after the party, Jasmine tells Ampharos that she knows it was her light that guided her home. Although it is snowy outside, Jasmine notices that she doesn't feel cold at all. Turning to see Whitney nearby, Jasmine realizes that her world is kept warm by those close to her.
