Solve the Case! (Part 1) (Japanese: 事件の謎を追え! 前編 Follow the Mystery of the Case! Part 1) was a costume event in Pokémon Masters EX. It was focused on the sync pairs Steven (Special Costume) & Stoutland and Shauna (Special Costume) & Klefki. Solve the Case! (Part 2) was a continuation of this event's story.
During this event, players could earn vouchers from battles that could be redeemed in the shop. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except Daily Extreme Battle 1, which could only be challenged once per day. Extra vouchers were automatically exchanged with coins once the event was finished.
The player could battle using Steven (Special Costume) & Stoutland or Shauna (Special Costume) & Klefki to obtain +0.6× bonus vouchers; Looker & Croagunk, Lyra & Chikorita/Bayleef/Meganium, Burgh & Leavanny, Agatha & Gengar, Melony & Lapras, or Guzma & Golisopod to obtain +0.4× bonus vouchers; and any unlisted sync pairs with the Hoenn or Kalos theme skill to obtain 0.2× bonus vouchers.
This event featured the Battle Challenge, where players were challenged to defeat a team of strong opponents. Players could complete event missions by clearing these areas with teams using various theme skills, earning medals and other rewards.
In addition, players could earn a medal for completing all the story areas in the event.
This event is the only way to obtainSong Key No. 00038, which allows "Fantastic Carnival" to be played in the Jukebox.
First run
The event first ran from March 31 to May 2, 2023. The "Steven Costume Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Steven (Special Costume) & Stoutland for the duration of the event, and the "Shauna Costume Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Shauna (Special Costume) & Klefki starting on April 2, 2023, and lasting until the end of the event.
In this run, the type of voucher that players could earn was Event Voucher F. Event mission rewards included medals, Gems, Battle Points, a Tech Move Candy Coin, and a Support Move Candy Coin.
Second run
The event reran from March 9 to 25, 2024. The "Super Spotlight Costume Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Steven (Special Costume) & Stoutland, Shauna (Special Costume) & Klefki, Lyra (Special Costume) & Phanpy, and Zinnia (Special Costume) & Thievul for the duration of the event.
In this run, the type of voucher that players could earn was Event Voucher P. Event mission rewards included medals and Gems.
If the player had already obtainedSong Key No. 00038 in the previous run, exchanging for it in the shop again would reward the player with a 3★ Power-Up.

Among the roles you will play, there is a culprit who will cause an incident...who is obviously hiding their identity. You will be asked to figure out who the culprit is and what kind of incident happened. |

Lear | Now, before we begin the game, let me go over some simple rules. Each participant has been given a role, and one of those roles is the culprit! However, the culprit has also been given an additional role to serve as a decoy. The culprit must use their decoy role to avoid suspicion while causing "the incident." |
Steven | And everyone else should play their roles and try to guess who the culprit is, right? |
Lear | Indeed. To discover the culprit, it's important to figure out what happened in this mansion. Piecing together what occurred is crucial to solving the mystery! |
Shauna | I have a question! Can you get help from your partner Pokémon during the game? |
