Winter Wishes (Japanese: 変わらない冬のできごと Unchanging Winter Event) was a story event in Pokémon Masters EX. It was focused on the sync pairs Leon (Holiday 2021) & Calyrex and Nessa (Holiday 2021) & Eiscue. It also marked the debut of Sonia as an NPC.

During this event, players could earn Festive Candles and Frosty Snow Globes from battles that could be redeemed in the shop. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except Daily Extreme Battle 1, which could only be challenged once per day. Extra items were automatically exchanged with coins once the event was finished.

This event featured the Battle Challenge, where players were challenged to defeat a team of strong opponents. Players could complete event missions by clearing these areas with teams using various theme skills, earning medals and other rewards.

In addition, players could earn a medal for completing all the story areas in the event.

First run

The event first ran from December 16, 2021 to January 1, 2022. The "Leon Seasonal Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Leon (Holiday 2021) & Calyrex for the duration of the event, and the "Nessa Seasonal Scout" gave an increased chance of recruiting Nessa (Holiday 2021) & Eiscue starting on December 18, 2021 and lasting until the end of the event.

Players had a chance to obtain access to the special area Ultimate Decoration Collection when completing one of the Decoration Hunting areas or Daily Extreme Battle 1; this area could only be played once before it had to be unlocked again.

The player could battle using Leon (Holiday 2021) & Calyrex or Nessa (Holiday 2021) & Eiscue to obtain +0.6× bonus items; Skyla (Holiday 2020) & Togekiss, Erika (Holiday 2020) & Comfey, Rosa (Holiday 2019) & Delibird, or Siebold (Holiday 2019) & Octillery to obtain +0.4× bonus items; and any unlisted Ice-type sync pair to obtain +0.2× bonus items.

Second run

The event reran from December 19, 2022 to January 5, 2023. The "Super Spotlight Seasonal Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Leon (Holiday 2021) & Calyrex, Nessa (Holiday 2021) & Eiscue, Skyla (Holiday 2020) & Togekiss, Erika (Holiday 2020) & Comfey, Rosa (Holiday 2019) & Delibird, and Siebold (Holiday 2019) & Octillery for the duration of the event.

The player could battle using Leon (Holiday 2021) & Calyrex or Nessa (Holiday 2021) & Eiscue to obtain +0.6× bonus items; Skyla (Holiday 2020) & Togekiss, Erika (Holiday 2020) & Comfey, Rosa (Holiday 2019) & Delibird, Siebold (Holiday 2019) & Octillery, Jasmine (Holiday 2022) & Ampharos, or Whitney (Holiday 2022) & Sawsbuck to obtain +0.4× bonus items; and any unlisted Ice-type sync pair to obtain +0.2× bonus items.

Leon	Nonsense! As long as there are people expecting my appearance, it's my job to be there for them!
Nessa	I suppose so. But we haven't had the chance to hang out with Sonia lately, either... Of course, part of that's because she's so busy with all her research. But...I'm just a little worried about that.

You may already know this, but Leon and I are childhood friends. We also met Nessa during our Gym Challenge. We all traveled around Galar at the same time, so it's like we grew up together, really. But we've all been too busy to hang out lately... So I'm looking forward to seeing them today! I was so excited that I left work earlier than usual!
Lear	OK! I believe we're ready! Let the winter soiree begin! Rejoice in the festivities and Pokémon battles! As for the presents, these sync pairs will be delivering our gifts this year!

Nessa	Yeah, I remember that! I kept trying to fish in a spot you told me didn't have any Pokémon! And in the end, I didn't get a single bite. I guess I should've listened to a future Pokémon Professor, huh. Y'know...to be honest, I've been worried about some things, too. I decided that I was going to be equally invested in both modeling and being a Pokémon Trainer. But in the Galar Gym Challenge, my Gym is the second that challengers visit...which means I'm still not as strong as I'd hoped. I still can't seem to beat Leon...and I have to admit, I felt some pressure when I heard you'd already became a Pokémon Professor!
Sonia	I see...
Nessa	But right now on Pasio, I'm getting exposure to all sorts of Trainers and experiences! There's other models like Elesa... and Lana likes fishing, too, so we get along quite well.
Sonia	I totally get that! There's a lot of veteran Pokémon Professors here on Pasio, too! Ever since I got here, I feel like I'm getting back in the groove for battling again!
Nessa	Oh, really? In that case, I'd love to challenge you to a match as well. Especially with my new partner!

Calyrex	You always force yourself to live up to the expectations of those around you...and you busy yourself with fulfilling these obligations. This is a remarkable quality of yours—indeed, it is perhaps the reason why you've been a crowned Champion for as long as you have. However, the further you push yourself to greater heights, the harder others will struggle to keep up with you.

Calyrex	You should reflect on this...as once something precious has been lost, it may be too late to get it back. By isolating yourself, you may be making others lonely. It takes a significant amount of time and effort to regain what has once been lost. And remember, it is also possible that something lost may never return.
