Description This pioneering Pokémon Professor was an accomplished Trainer in his heyday and has since become an authority on Pokémon research. He is also Blue's grandfather.

Professor Oak (Japanese: オーキド Ohkido) is a Pokémon Trainer in Pokémon Masters EX, based on the character of the same name in the core series games. He forms a sync pair with Mew. This sync pair was first made available on February 14, 2020. The pair's potential can be upgraded to Masters EX star.png 6★ EX from August 25, 2024, which unlocks Professor Oak's EX style.

Professor Oak also forms a sync pair with Nidorino. This pair can be obtained through a special sync pair event beginning on August 18, 2024. This pair can be raised to Masters EX star.png 6★ EX since it first released, though this pair lacks an EX style.

Trivia

Origin

Professor Oak's design is based on his appearance in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen. While Professor Oak is not shown owning a Mew outside this game, it is a Mythical Pokémon that was introduced in Generation I, as Professor Oak himself was. Mew's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire.

Professor Oak depicts a Nidorino during his introductory lecture in the Generation I core series games (excluding Pokémon Yellow). Nidorino's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire.
