Purugly (Japanese: ブニャット Bunyat) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon.
It evolves from Glameow starting at level 38.
Biology
Physiology
Purugly looks like a big gray and white cat, with a tail similar to Glameow. It still has a crescent shape head. Its ears are pointed and purple-colored. It has whiskers with a zigzag like pattern at the end of them. The pattern on its belly makes it appear to be wearing a frilly apron. It's tail is now forked, but it usually keeps it clasped around it's waist.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Despite appearing very sluggish, when angered, they will not be reluctant to attack and can be quite fast.
Being fully evolved Pokémon, they can learn Hyper Beam and Giga Impact.
Behavior
Purugly act smug and fed up most of the time. A smiling Purugly is said to be rare.
Habitat
Purugly nest in both urban areas and heavily wooded forests. They are known to frighten off other Pokémon simply to claim their nests as their own, making them very unsocial Pokémon.

Sprites
Trivia
- Despite looking very fat, Speed is its highest stat.
- Mars has an "illegal" Purugly in the Valley Windworks; it is at level 16 (Diamond and Pearl)/17 (Platinum), while Glameow evolves at level 38.
- Its shiny sprite is simply a switch of the colors of its ears and its main body color.
Origin
Purugly is based on a wild tiger cat, though its appearance is closer to an overweight tabby cat.
Name origin
Its English name comes from the words "purr" and "ugly". Its Japanese name may be derived from a combination of デブ debu, fat, にゃ nya, meow, and the English word "cat". Although considering the English name is Purugly, it is also likely the "bu" in Bunyatto comes from the word busaiku (不細工), which means "ugly".
In other languages
- German: Shnurgarst - From schnurren (to purr) and garstig (rough).
- French: Chaffreux - From chat (cat) and affreux (horrid).
- Korean: 몬냥이 Monnyang-i
