Floatzel (Japanese: フローゼル Flowsel) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon.
It evolves from Buizel starting at level 26.
Biology
Physiology
Floatzel appears to be based on an otter or weasel, with two pointed blue fins on its arms and two tails, as with its pre-evolution, Buizel. The yellow flotation device it had as a Buizel appears to have grown and now functions as a boat. It gives the impression of a swimmer with a towel draped around its shoulders. If Floatzel laid on its back, the structure round its neck could also be interpreted as a sort of inflatable dinghy using its tails much like its pre-evolution, as a propeller and its fins as oars. The small fins on Buizel's forelimbs have grown into fully-fledged fins that are used for Razor Wind attacks. Its forelimbs and tails are tipped with cream coloration, and there is a teadrop-shapeed orange pattern voided in Floatzel’s cream lower belly. Floatzel also has a circular cream spot in the center of its head, cream-colored eyelids and a pattern of two black triangles on the edges of its cream muzzle, unlike Buizel.
Gender differences
Male Floatzel have two white spots on their back, whereas females have only one.
Special abilities
Floatzel's abilities are essentially the same as Buizel's, but stronger. Floatzel can now attack with Crunch and Ice Fang. As a fully evolved Pokémon, it can learn Hyper Beam and Giga Impact. Its flotation sac can inflate to look like a life vest; in a similar way Buizel can expand its sac, as seen in A Crasher Course in Power!.
Behavior
It floats using its well-developed flotation sac. It assists in the rescues of drowning people.
Habitat
They tend to inhabit swift-moving rivers.
Diet
- Main article: Pokémon food
Floatzel may be a fish-eater, but it is unknown whether this is true. Floatzel is occasionally found with the Wacan Berry.
In the anime
Floatzel made its debut in Pokémon Ranger and the Kidnapped Riolu! (Part 1). Kellyn used his Capture Styler on a wild Floatzel so he could use it to escape from a group of Sharpedo that belonged to Hunter J's Henchmen.
Crasher Wake used a Floatzel against Ash's Buizel in A Crasher Course in Power!.
Conway used a Floatzel in the second leg of the Pokémon Triathlon in One Team, Two Team, Red Team, Blue Team.
Another Flotazel appeared in DP174, under the ownership of Kenny.

In the manga
In Pokémon Adventures, Crasher Wake has a Floatzel. Under Wake's command, Pearl attempted to catch one himself, but failed to do so and resorted to catching the weaker Buizel. This Pokémon has an intense dislike for Pearl, attacking him on sight and refusing to obey his commands.

Trivia
- Floatzel is tied with Starmie as the fastest Water-type Pokémon, with a base speed of 115.
- Despite the fact that both it and its pre-evolution Buizel are Template:Type2s and have two tails (let alone just one), the only manner in which Floatzel can have Aqua Tail is via move tutor in Platinum.
- When Floatzel's maximum speed is combined with its ability, Swift Swim, it has the highest speed among all Pokémon.
Origin
Floatzel is based off an otter, which is in the same family as weasels, however it resembles weasels a little more closely than it does otters. Floatzel also appears to be loosely based on the Kamaitachi
Name origin
Floatzel's name comes from the words float and weasel. Its Japanese name may come from the English words flow or float and weasel.
