Kingler (Japanese: キングラー Kingler) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon.
It evolves from Krabby starting at level 28.
Biology
Physiology
Kingler is a large crab-like Pokémon. Its claws and upper half of its body are reddish-orange with the four legs and lower body being cream-colored. Its left claw is particularly larger than the right one.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Kingler's left pincer boasts 10,000 horsepower of crushing force, but its massive weight makes it difficult for Kingler to aim with.
Since Kingler is a fully evolved Pokémon, it is capable of using Hyper Beam and Giga Impact.
Behavior
It waves this huge claw in the air to communicate with others. However, because the claw is so heavy, the Pokémon quickly tires.
Habitat
It can be presumed that, like its pre-evolution, Kingler live in beaches. It is found in Kanto and Johto.
Diet
- Main article: Pokémon food
Kingler mainly eat Shellder and possibly other species of mollusk Pokémon.
In the anime
Major appearances
Ash's Krabby evolved into a Kingler in Round One - Begin!, during Ash's first round battle in the Indigo League.
Other
Kingler's first major role was in The Battle of the Badge, under the ownership of Giovanni. He used it in his Gym battle against Gary's Nidoking and Arcanine. Despite the type disadvantage, Giovanni's Kingler was defeated by Gary's Arcanine. Giovanni had loaned his Kingler to Jessie, James and Meowth when he put them in charge of the Viridian Gym while he was out.
Minor appearances
Kingler first appeared in Showdown at Dark City as one of the Kas Gym's Pokémon.
A Kingler appeared in Up Close and Personable!.

In the manga
In Pokémon Adventures, Kingler is shown under the ownership of several Rocket Grunts, and one is later shown in a flashback during Giovanni's speech regarding experimented Pokémon that were shipped on the S.S. Anne. Much later, in the FireRed & LeafGreen arc, another Kingler is shown having been captured by Carr to try and ambush Red and Blue, but it is frozen and beaten by the newly arrived Lorelei.

Trivia
- Kingler's left claw is always the larger of the two, except in Generation I and its early artwork by Ken Sugimori, where this is reversed.
- Kingler shares the same species name with Scizor. They are both known as Pincer Pokémon, though Scizor has also been called the Scissors Pokémon.
- Coincidentally, both Kingler and Scizor have the highest Attack stat of Pokémon of their primary type, each having a base Attack of 130.
- Kingler and its pre-evolution Krabby are two of the four Pokémon that can learn Crabhammer by level up. Corphish and Crawdaunt are the other two.
Origin
Kingler is very similar to a fiddler crab, or may be based on the land crab, which both usually have one claw larger than the other, like Kingler does.
Name origin
Kingler's name might be a combination of king and fiddler - both species of crab.
In other languages
- German: Kingler
- French: Krabboss - From crabe (crab) and boss.
- Korean: 킹크랩 Kingkeuraep - A combination of transliterations of king and crab.
- Chinese (Taiwan): 巨鉗蟹 Jù Qián Xiè - "Giant Pincers Crab". The character 巨 means huge or gigantic, as opposed to 大 (big) in Krabby's Chinese name, 大鉗蟹.
