Trainer Hill (Japanese: トレーナーヒル Trainer Hill), located just north of Mauville City, on Route 111, is an Pokémon Emerald-exclusive location. Much like the Trainer Tower in the Sevii Islands, Trainer Hill is a tower designed for Trainers to race and battle through quickly.
Battles conducted inside of Trainer Hill do not award experience or money.
Unlike normal Battle Towers, items, such as Revives and Potions, are allowed to be used during the challenges.
In the Japanese version, Pokémon Battle Card e+ may be scanned in to change the floor design and opponent Trainers. The last seven scanned Trainers inhabit the tower, and the item won for completing Trainer Hill quickly varies based on which opponents are in the tower.
Trainers scanned from e+ cards appear on four kinds of Trainer Cards, denoting their difficulty level: green, copper, silver, and gold. If a Trainer's Trainer Card has three Poké Ball symbols on the right of their belt, they will be partnered with a Trainer who has their Poké Ball symbols on the left of their belt.
Trainer Hill offers a special time-attack battle mode. When the player enters the contest a timer starts keeping track of how long it takes for the player to battle to the top of the building. There are four types of contests, each with escalating difficulty:
- Normal
- Variety
- Unique
- Expert
The Pokémon used by Trainers within match the player´s highest level Pokémon. For example, if the player chooses to go through Trainer Hill with their highest-leveled Pokémon being level 48, the other trainers will have level 48 Pokémon.
Trainer Hill also has a Pokémon Center and a Poké Mart inside of it. Because there are Pokémon inside of it that are not in in Hoenn's regional Pokédex, such as Moltres, Trainer Hill's challenge will be closed until the player has beaten the Elite Four.
