Kanto
The Kanto region (Japanese: カントー Kantō) is a large area located east of Johto. Named after the real Kanto region in Japan, is the first region explored by the Generation I games Pokémon Green, Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue and Pokémon Yellow and in the Generation III games Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen. Kanto is also accessible in the Generation II games Pokémon Gold, Pokémon Silver and Pokémon Crystal. Professor Oak is the resident Pokémon professor and gives the trainers a choice between Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle as their choice for a starter Pokémon. You start in Pallet Town and work your way through the Indigo Plateau to become the League Champion.

In the Second Generation games, trainers may travel from Johto to Kanto and notice these changes have occurred in the region.
- No Safari Zone.
- Unknown Dungeon has been blocked off.
- Cinnabar Island destroyed and gym relocated to the Seafoam Islands.
- Viridian Forest and Mt. Moon changed in size.
- Power Plant becomes functional.
- Lavender Tower has became a radio tower.
In Generation III
In Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen, you are able to visit the first three in a chain of islands known as the Sevii Islands. They are unlocked once you beat Blaine on Cinnabar Island. After you beat the Elite Four, you can then visit the other islands which make up this archipelago.
