Talk:Kanto
Pokemon League champion
For the Pokemon League champion, shouldn't his name be listed as Blue rather than Gary? Blue is his name in Gold/Silver, as well. Also, should the name link to "Gary" or to something like "Blue (game)"?
- Meowth346 22:38, 8 Jan 2005 (GMT)
Hmm, but in FireRed and LeafGreen his name is Green, isn't it?
- nYoo 20:38, 15 Feb 2005 (GMT)
Is his name ever seen in Fire/Leaf? His in-game data in the Japanese version (where he is Green on older games) is みてい (undecided) and his in-game data in the English version gives him the name Terry (terra, Earth-badge gym?) So, that's no help. --Meowth346 18:11, 23 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Kanto
I don't recall seeing a macron over the "o" in the US Pokémon games and manuals etc., it was just "Kanto", wasn't it? What the name of Kanto is in Japan is irrelevant to the article title and its first word, we're using US names... ._.
Of course, correct me if I'm wrong (this is a wiki XD), but I'm fairly sure...
- Hyperworm 09:28, 23 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- Of course you don't see a macron. Do you see macrons in Tōkyō, Kyōto, Tōkaidō or Hokkaidō? Of course not, English just drops them. It's fairly common on Wikipedia to put the macrons back where the English name would otherwise be identical to Hepburn romanisation, and I agree (and if you can't read the katakana, I assure you, the long vowel is there) -- it reduces clutter. - 刘 (劉) 振霖 10:31, 23 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- I can read the katakana, and I'm all for writing Japanese words so they strictly conform to Hepburn romanisation, which is why I added "Kantō" after カントー. However, I'm just as much for writing English words so they strictly conform to how the official people decided they should be written in English. As you said yourself, English drops macrons, and so IMHO if we're using the English names, we should copy how they're officially written in the US character-for-character and leave the macrons out. If we're actually talking about the Japanese version of the English Kanto (no macron), which is カントー, then for the benefit of non-Japanese-speakers I would actually romanize the name (which involves macrons) rather than typing only the true Japanese one. ._.
- I'm new to wikis, however, and if it's standard practice to add macrons to English words that are derived from Japanese words, then fair enough... I wasn't aware, and I don't think it's a good idea myself. I'll leave it up to you whether to edit it or not.
- It's a trifling point anyway. I should probably actually submit some decent content to Bulbapedia rather than just fixing typos, sorry for taking up your time with this. ._.

Game Champion
In regards to the League Champion, I think it would be best if he was recorded as Blue (or Green for the Japanese versions).
Gary is a seperate entity from the games, and you problably shouldn't record him has the League Champ in RBYG anymore than you should say that Ash is the final boss in GSC.
Blue, the one in the games anyway, is in my opinion - a different character from Gary and Green from PSpecial. The latter are based on the former, but not the same.

Explorable in generaton IV
I'm a little bit confused. The article states more than 3 times that Kanto is explorable in all 4 generations, but this was only added after HGSS was confirmed. But then when someone tried to add in HGSS in the games its in section, it was removed. What other gen IV game is Kanto playable in thats been confirmed in the last two weeks? Someone please change it to one way or the other. --Hey1031 14:49, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
- Kanto's playable in HGSS. It was playable in GS, it will be in HGSS. Lt. Surge had the same leveled Pokémon, hell, all of them had the same leveled Pokémon in FRLG as in RG. Whether that means that HGSS won't have level tweaks, I don't know. What I do know is that the geography of Kanto wasn't changed, and you still went to every place that you did in RBY, even Rock Tunnel, though they were obviously by that time already halfway through planning and programming of DP and so knew that Flash was gonna be kicked out of HM status in Gen IV.
- Some people don't know the meaning of remake. TTEchidna 18:44, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
- To slightly clarify TTE's comment, the reason all this weird nonsense is happening is because people are, for some reason, arguing that Kanto might actually not be in HGSS, so we're going to just wait for an official confirmation.—Loveはドコ? (talk • contribs) 18:46, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
- Considering the fact that the western half of Route 22 and everything west of it is on the map released, it's pretty obvious that Kanto is in HGSS. Since the whole region was in GSC, it's unlikely that they would leave out the areas not on the map for HGSS. --Evice 00:50, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, the road to Kanto is in the map from HGSS so Kanto probably will probably be in HGSS. Or at least I hope it will... --Thermorules123 16:17, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Pointless Trivia?
Is this trivia relevant? It doesn't seem worth mentioning to me, but I though I'd ask before deleting.
Kanto is the only region whose routes' numbers have different numbers of digits, having both one-digit and two-digit route numbers. Johto only has two-digit route numbers, and Hoenn and Sinnoh have only three-digit route numbers.
--Galladeon 20:50, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
- Nope, I would call it irrelevant as it is a given that Kanto's routes are going to be low as it is the first region. In short: toss it! -MasterKenobi 20:56, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
HGSS Sugimori map
We saw a glimpse of it. Anyone know if we can find the full map? Is it even out?--Midnight Blue 05:41, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
- Isn't the HG/SS Kanto map already on the page? FireMeowth 06:17, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

Hoenn, south of Kanto?
The article states that Hoenn is south of Kanto, where the Hoenn Article itself states that Hoenn is southwest of Johto (and thus, really more west of Kanto than south). Should the article be changed to correct this?--Purimpopoie 03:16, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
Connection to Japan
Shouldn't it say, "The soil of the Kanto region is volcanic," not Kansai? --Mew is the Original One 00:25, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
Any mentions of Kanto in B/W?
There is a music file on Pokemon Black and White's KANTO Champion theme. I found this as odd since I presume that there's no mention of Kanto in the newest games, but still, any idea anyone?

Extra towns?
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but is'nt Mintale town (Pokémon Channel) in Kanto? --Kanto Girl 21:50, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
Generation V remake
Does anyone expect a Generation V remake of the RBY/RGY games? There's almost 100% chance of a Gen V Hoenn game, but what about Kanto?
//// | Gen 1 | Gen 2 | Gen 3 | Gen 4 | Gen 5 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Kanto | Yes | No | Yes | No | ??? |
Johto | N/A | Yes | No | Yes | Probably Not |
Hoenn | N/A | N/A | Yes | No | Probably |
Sinnoh | N/A | N/A | N/A | Yes | Probably Not |

Major Error in Kanto Page
Can someone please fix the Kanto region page? It is completely messed up. --Han Ji-Wan 22:21, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
Small Problem?
The article is protected, or otherwise I would have fixed this, but isn't the word jeans (in bold) being used incorrectly in the following sentence? Not that it's that big of a deal, I just happened to have noticed. Frenchhorn 23:28, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
"Some researcher working for the evil organization Team Rocket, cloned Mew through its jeans and created the Genetic Pokémon Mewtwo."
- The article isn't protected; the "Edit" link is just pushed down by the images. Regardless, the sentence has now been corrected to say "genes." —Minimiscience 23:39, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
NO route
Um I didnt see a route 23 when i played the games. But theres a 24 and 25. And a 22. Anybody notice that? - unsigned comment from Bobosmith01 (talk • contribs)
- Sign your comments, please. And the Kanto Route 23 does exist, just not in GSC and HGSS. Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 23:22, 15 April 2011 (UTC)

Maybe some trivia?
Should it be mentioned (if it hasn't already) that the names of all of the Kanto places are named after colors except for Pallet, which is basically like a pallet of colors? Signed, Jhuyu26 (no page though)
- Please at the very least read the intro of the article before commenting. It's the first sentence of the second paragraph on the whole page. Werdnae (talk) 06:59, 26 June 2011 (UTC)

Should it be mentioned in trivia that Kanto is the only region without a Wter/Ground type pokemon?

Gym Badge Order?
In what order do you fight the Kanto Gyms in the Johto games? - unsigned comment from Jdrawer (talk • contribs)
- You fight them in any order you like. This page has them in the Gen I order as it is assumed it's the same in Gen II.--ForceFire 11:42, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
Generation VI
Would it's inclusion as a Virtual Console download include it as part of Generation VI? I do believe its at least worth noting that it is now playable in some form on every Nintendo handheld to date.-Darknesslover5000 (talk) 19:25, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
- Virtual Console is rereleases, not remakes; counting it would be like counting Dream Radar as part of Gen VI because you can still buy it. Being playable on every handheld is trivua-worthy, though. glikglak 19:38, 13 November 2015 (UTC)

Indigo Plateau in the Demographics section
Is there a reason that the Indigo Plateau and it's population is not in the demographics section, despite the league being in all other demographics sections and the plateau being in the navbox? I'm currently rechecking the HGSS Johto populations and noticed it was missing. Smear-Gel (talk) 18:49, 9 July 2016 (UTC)

Updating the artwork for the cities of Kanto
Should we update the artwork for the cities because Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee have come out? Should we add Gen 7 images of the cities and towns?

- When someone can get in-game screenshots of the locations. Cropping the Kanto map artwork is not how it's done.--ForceFire 05:43, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
- Oh ok. Thanks. How long does it usually take for people to get these photos? Also, by cropping the Kanto map artwork, are you talking about taking a map of the region and cropping it, or taking photos of cities and cropping them? --Robertoiglesias271 (talk) 04:36, 19 May 2020 (UTC)
- It'll be done when someone can find the time to do it. By cropping, I mean cropping out the cities from the Kanto map artwork.--ForceFire 06:10, 19 May 2020 (UTC)

Pokemon Stadium 1 in-game renders missing
I hate to make a post like this instead of just updating the page, but I only have access to a janky emulated version of PS1 at the moment that I checked to make sure this wasn't a dream. In Oak's Lab in PS1, there's an "Area" menu for Pokémon similar to PS2's that's pretty different in appearance and shows a full Kanto. If anyone has access to a clean capture of this screen, I think it would be good to add to the page! (Here's a quick link to my bad screenshot for those curious: https://imgur.com/a/8Y9QvFX , and please let me know if it would just be better to work on a clean emulated version {or possibly work on a no-text version too} than waiting for someone with N64 capture to do it) Superkidra (talk) 22:32, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
Blue Version (JPN) encounters
For routes & other areas with wild Pokémon, should we add the Japanese Blue version (and moving the currently denoted "B" to "G")? My reason for asking this is because those encounters are different, and this would be more in line with how they are handled on the Version-exclusive Pokémon page. That page also serves to demonstrate one way in which they differ, with the differing exclusives, but there are also other aspects - For instance in Red, the Weedle line is more common than the Caterpie line, and vice-versa for Green and Blue (see Viridian Forest), something that is not answered through the Version-exclusives page, as it does not cover difference in chance (but you also should not need to reference the version-exclusive page for this one game). Another example is the Rock Tunnel. In the Japanese Blue, and only in that game, Ditto can be found in the Rock Tunnel, something only mentioned on the Ditto page. Incorrect In-Game Appearance
The file a:File:KantoTownMap.png is inaccurate, and not a game screenshot. Victory Road, Power Plant, Safari Zone, Pokémon Mansion, and Seafoam Islands all have the blue icon in the file, where in game these locations are represented by a smaller grey dot. Does anyone have an official screenshot? I have corrected the file mentioned above to what it should look like, but I couldn't upload it if I wanted to.--Beanpole (talk) 01:50, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
