Trivia

  • It is the only fully-evolved Dragon-type in a three-stage evolutionary line that is pure Dragon-type.
  • Ononokus has the highest base Attack stat of all non-legendary Dragon-type Pokémon, including any Dragon-type pseudo-legendary Pokémon.

Origin

It bears resemblance to titular characters of classic Japanese monster movies, particularly Destoroyah of Godzilla fame.

Name origin

Its name is likely a combination of 斧 ono, axe, 戦く ononoku, to shudder, and アックス akkusu, axe.
