Sylvester (Japanese: ナオト Naoto) was the character of the day in A Farfetch'd Tale.

He and his father (called ヨサク Yosaku in the Japanese version) live in the Ilex Forest. They cut down trees and use them to make Charcoal. Sylvester tried to use his Farfetch'd and its Cut attack to cut down a tree, but it wouldn't listen to him. Ash let him know that he was telling Farfetch'd to use Cutting attack, which is why it didn't listen.

After it was stolen by Team Rocket, Sylvester helped save Farfetch'd. Realizing that its trainer cared about it, Farfetch'd began to listen and helped Sylvester cut down trees for Charcoal. As a way of expressing his thanks, Sylvester and his father gave Ash and his friends some Charcoal.

Farfetch'd refused to listen to Sylvester initially because of his inexperience when he wanted to use it to slice trees and make Charcoal and it later ran away. Team Rocket find it wandering and corner it, it tries to run away and flies up to a tree, Jessie sends out her Lickitung and it steals its leek. It tries to escape agin, but this time it is sucessfully captured by Team Rocket. Ash's Heracross spot it and the gang come, Ash's Pokémon break the net, but Lickitung quickly captures it with its tongue. After a long battle, Sylvester is able to grab its leek from Jessie, and is able to command it correctly, sending Team Rocket blasting off. Later it is able to slice a tree correctly to Yosaku's satisfaction.

Farfetch'd's known moves are Cut, Peck, and Fury Attack.
