It possesses a long rectrice feather that is tipped in black.

Trivia
Origin
Judging from both its Black and White Pokédex entries, Tranquill may be based on a dove, often used as a symbol of peace, and possibly a homing pigeon, a domestic pigeon bred to find its way home over extremely long distances. Its design is similar to that of the Greater Roadrunner.
Name origin
Tranquill is based off of "tranquil," meaning calm or unstressed and "quill," a feather from the tail of a bird. It also incorporates the name quail. Hatoboh may be derived from 鳩 hato, meaning dove, and 逃亡 tōbō, meaning escape or 尨 'bō' meaning shaggy hair.
