Kin Island (Japanese: おやこしま Parent-Child Island) is the third island in the Sevii Islands archipelago. It is so called because it consists of a larger island (the "parent" island), connected by a bridge to a smaller island (the "child" island). It is east of Boon Island.
Kin Island, like most of the other Sevii Islands, has a town on it, Three Island. It is the most populous town of the seven, but unlike towns in mainland Kanto, it is a very sleepy town.
Another oddity of Kin Island is that, unlike the other Sevii Island, the Seagallop Ferry port is not within the town itself, but instead in a separate area called Three Isle Port.
When the main character in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen first arrives in town on Kin Island, he or she will have to fight off a gang of rowdy bikers to restore the island to peace.
East of the port, a gold miner digs a tunnel, eventually transforming it into Three Isle Path, which opens into a secret area of Three Isle Port where rare Dunsparce live.
On the west side of Kin Island is the Bond Bridge, which leads to an islet that has a forest growing on it. This Berry Forest contains trees that grow Berries in profusion; however unlike in Hoenn, these Berries cannot be replanted to grow more, but instead regenerate time after time.
Children are cautioned against playing in the Berry Forest, as wild Hypno inside the forest have been known to use Hypnosis on children and lead them astray. Lostelle has to be rescued from one of these Hypno.
Locations on Kin Island
Three Island
- Main article: Three Island (town)
The town of Three Island is located on the eastern, "parent" island. It is where most of the people on the island live, being the most populous town of the seven. It is a very quiet and sleepy destination, with no hustle and bustle as is common in the biggest cities in regions like Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn. The town was invaded by angry biker, until the peace was restored by the player. East of the town is a port and a tunnel a gold miner had dug, that had eventually transformed into Three Isle Path. On the west side of Three Island, past Bond Bridge, is an islet that has a forest growing on it. The Berry Forest contains trees that grow Berries in profusion, that some of the towns people venture to pick flowers and berries.
Three Isle Port
- Main article: Three Isle Port
The Three Isle Port is a small port just south of Three Island. It is were ships and ferries import goods to Kin Island. It is also how people travel to get around the Islands. North of Three Isle Port is Three Island and the Three Isle Path, while south of the port is the Seagallop Ferry dock. There is a secluded area where rare Dunsparce can be found, accessible only from the fully extended Three Isle Path.
Three Isle Path
- Main article: Three Isle Path
The Three Isle Path is a short tunnel created by a gold miner trying to find Nuggets. It is a small underground passage located on the far left side of Kin Island. The path will reveal a second opening to an isolated patch of grass where wild Dunsparce can be found.
Bond Bridge
- Main article: Bond Bridge
Bond Bridge is a large area located in the middle of Kin Island. It acts as a bond between the "parent" and "child" islands, and thus serves as a pathway to get across to Berry Forest. Leaving the town of Three Island through its western entrance, trainers can follow the path presented before them all the way up the small hill, or if they have a Pokémon with Cut on them, can take a shortcut. After finding some way to get around this obstacle, trainers will walk across a beach to a small bridge across to an islet with the entrance to Berry Forest.
Berry Forest
- Main article: Berry Forest
The Berry Forest is a large forest within the western, "child" islet. It contains trees that grow Berries in profusion; however unlike in Hoenn, these berries cannot be replanted to grow more, but instead regenerate time after time. Children are cautioned against playing in the Berry Forest, as wild Hypno inside the forest have been known to use Hypnosis on children and lead them astray. Lostelle has to be rescued from one of these Hypno.
