Shield Dust is an ability that prevents added effects. Five Pokémon have this ability. By "preventing added effects", it essentially negates all possible side-effects whose probability would be boosted by Serene Grace; any side-effect (Paralysis from Body Slam, for instance) would be stopped. However, it does not stop moves, with one effect, like Thunder Wave.
