Sootopolis City

Sootopolis City is one of the the sixteen cities of Hoenn, the land in which the games Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Pokémon Emerald take place.

"An underwater volcano erupted and forced itself up from the depths. Its crater emerged from the sea and became filled with rainwater. That's how Sootopolis City came into being." Refered to as "The mystical city where history slumbers", Sootopolis plays a major part in the games, as it is the location where the player has their first encounter with a legendary Pokémon, and obtains their final Badge.

Town Features

  • To reach Sootopolis, it is necessary to have a Pokémon that is capable of using Dive.
  • Wallace, is the Gym Leader in this town. He uses Water-type Pokémon. You battle him for your 8th Gym Badge. However, in Pokémon Emerald, Adan is the Gym Leader instead, Wallace replacing Steven as Champion of the Hoenn League.
  • The Cave of Origin is located in Sootopolis, in Ruby and Sapphire it contains Groudon and Kyogre respectively, while in Pokémon Emerald you meet Wallace, who tells you about Rayquaza.
  • Rare items that can be obtained in Sootopolis include TM31: Brick Break, a Big Wailmer Doll, and several kinds of Berry.
  • Barboach and Shroomish can be shown to a pair of residents, who will calculate their size and reward prizes of Ethers and Elixers accordingly.
