Pidgeotto (Japanese: ピジョン Pigeon, German: Tauboga, French: Roucoups) is a Normal/Flying-type Pokémon.

Name origin

Its name is a corruption of pigeon, a common bird. Its Japanese name clearly refers to said species of bird.

Its design appears to be less of a pigeon and more of an osprey or other bird of prey.

In the anime, Pidgeotto plays a role as one of Ash's Pokémon. It participates in the gym battles against Brock and Misty, is frequently used for breaking Team Rocket's Meowth-shaped balloon, and is the only one of Ash's pokemon at the time, save some of his numerous Tauros, not to participate in the pokemon league at indigo.
