GTS

This is odd... In the GTS interface, it says "Global Trade System", but outside, the building is clearly marked as "Global Trade Station". Which should redirect to the other? TTEchidna 08:57, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

I suppose Station refers to the location while System refers to the service. Annnd that still leaves it a bit hard to say. I suppose since things like Pal Park are referred to by their location name anyway, Station may be more appropriate. ...Maybe?
On second thought, if the only use of Global Trade Station you can find is on the building, System may be better if that's all Nintendo calls it.--Porygon 10:51, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
The new website calls it "Station"... R'win 13:59, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

Geonet squares

I have a question that isn't mentioned on the article. On Geonet, what's the difference between the light blue squares and the yellow squares? --Lime 02:26, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

I haven't seen it written anywhere, but I would guess that one is trades by Seeking and the other is trades by Depositing. I haven't paid enough attention to be able to guess which is which, though. R'win 13:52, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
The blue squares are trades that happened the day you look at the globe. All the other yellow squares are trades that didn't occur on the day you looked at the globe. --Moldy orange 00:12, 01 December 2007 (UTC)

Umm I can't remember exactly but I think one is the one in the center of the screen no matter where you're looking, there's another to show your own position (the one you inputed, if you did so), and then the rest are where people are that you've traded with. --Greengiant 06:37, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Website

I think that there should be add on this page about the new website http://www.pokemon-gts.net/ . -- 8:38 ,14 September 2007 (UTC)

Trading legendary Pokémon

"Nintendo has stated that this was a "technical difficulty". This proved true after legendary Pokémon became available again on both the GTS and Pokémon Battle Revolution." They have been? Only my Movie 10 Darkrai has been able to get on the GTS. All my other legends can't get on. --Vereux0 22:37, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

^ Funny thing is, the Movie 10 Darkrai usually CAN'T get on the GTS, because of the Classic Ribbon on it. ;) TinaTheKirlia 21:41, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Cheated Pokémon

Someone tricked me into getting a CHEATED Vespiquen on the GTS. It seemed legitimate. I even attached a Dragon Scale to the Seadra I traded over. Then I saw that the location it was met was "Pokémon League" at Lv. 54 (the level it was currently at) and it was in a Master Ball. So I released it. ShinyTalk | Contribs 01:17, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Will it have any permanent effects on my game? ShinyTalk | Contribs 01:20, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
Xei is a cheated Weavile. I've had her for a while and she hasn't affected my game. I have a random shiny Mew on Diamond that was met at Route 203, and Diamond didn't die. It might look a little "Aaaaaah!" at first, but it doesn't do anything to your game. :) 281Tina380 01:25, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
I thought you cheated for Xei... Now I know. ShinyTalk | Contribs 01:28, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Why is it so hard to find a decent trade on the GTS? (Decent as in not a Level 1 Vaporeon for a Level 70 or above Lugia.) ShinyTalk | Contribs 01:32, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Hey, it wasn't ME who cheated for it X3 My friend did. 281Tina380 01:52, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

I got a legitimate French Combee from the GTS. Combee's French name is a lot better than its English name or its Japanese name. Yay Apitrini! ShinyTalk | Contribs 01:54, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Traded

How do I know when a Pokémon I put on the GTS has been traded? ShinyTalk | Contribs 02:19, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

As far as I'm aware, you can only know by loging onto GTS itself and checking that way.--Conan-san 20:48, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Japanese nickname

I got a japanese Chimchar a while back that had a Japanese Nick and OT and came from a Day-Care Couple egg. After it evolved into Monferno (@ lv 17 or so, whenver it learns Fire Wheel) it's name changed into the default (MONFERNO) and I can't change it cuz it counts as a trade pokemon. Is this all normal?--Conan-san 20:47, 17 November 2007 (UTC) ~~

PS: I got it after trading a random PKMN and leaving the game for about two months because I got a Wii, so I can't remember what PKMN I traded for it, wasn't too important, I guess.

Completely normal. 281Tinaδ282 20:52, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
Gah, what a pain in the backside...ah well, give what I get I suppose. --Conan-san 21:37, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Trade Evo thing

Wow! Why does the Trade Evo thing work? ShinyTalk | Contribs 00:54, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

It's still a trade, isn't it?--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 02:47, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
Not really...A trade implies that you're Pokemon was swapped for some thng else. But the glitch works by offering your own trade-evo Pokemon, then taking it back to induce the evolution.--Dual 05:10, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
So does this only work when used with a Pokemon holding an item, or can it work with non-item trade evos?--Dual 03:56, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
I don't see how it'd be any different. If you need to know, deposit something and ask for a Machoke.--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 04:26, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
It seems that they've fixed the glitch. I tried doing it with a Clamperl holding a DeepSeaTooth, but it didn't evolve. Oh well. --Dual 01:00, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
Never mind, I simply misread part of the procedure. Once I tried again, not only was the Clamperl able to evolve, but I also managed to induce my Rhydon's trade-evo. --Dual 10:42, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

a possible bug?

today I started trading on the GTS on platinum and I found a level 100 glaicion (SP?) so I traded for it, soon after it wouldn't let me trade on the GTS even though I had the pokemon they wanted, I quickly deleated the pokemon and now some of my pokemon can be traded but others still can not be traded. anyone else experence this problem? or is there an explanation for this?--Legendary arcanine 03:17, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Most likely, you're just trying to give people pokemon that are not the levels they are looking for. It doesn't show that they are looking for a specific level when they are, so you probably just deleted the pokemon for no reason. Silvermoonstar3 16:30, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

A GTS glitch...

Okay.

So I searched for a Garchomp, on the GTS of course. One of the results had the sprite of a Spiritomb, which was what they were asking for. Same thing happened with a Cherubi asking for a Turtwig. Should we list it? 281Tinaδ281 05:34, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

That just means that the Pokémon has already been traded. You see that person wanted a Spiritomb for a Garchomp. For some reason, it's still registered that the person has a Garchomp because they didn't log on to the GTS since the trade. It shows that they have Spiritomb already and their Garchomp was already traded. That happened to me too. --ケンジガール 05:42, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Hacked Pokemon

Wasn't there this huge controversy about not being able to trade hacked Pokemon or something? What happened to that? Or did I misunderstand?--Dual 03:02, 4 December 2007 (UTC)p

Controversy

I don't think that only being able to ask for what you saw is a bad idea. I think it is a very smart idea. The developers must have thought that (for a remake of gold and silver), you wouldn't be able to ask for Generation 3 or 4 because there is no possible way to see them in the game. So they could have been preparing to use the GTS in the remake, (if there is one). Moldy orange 22:19 8 January 2008

Except Pokémon from Gen III+IV will be seen in the extra areas so that can't be it. --FabuVinny T-C-S 03:38, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
uh, hello? gen 2&3 'mon could be transferred from r/s/e to fr/lg. So maybe gen 3&4 pokemon will be transferrable to GSDS. -- Donate a mudkip to 折り紙ガイ today! 19:39, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
I hate it when people ask for a level 9 and under Regigigas. Can someone explain that to me? (On my talk page please.) Dialgarules 01:41, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

Arceus's Vanishing Glitch

well theres a new glitch i found when test-driving my arceus. i dont know why it happened, although the fact that arceus was involved in different ways each time is not going to be coincidental. I put some data on the GTS article. -- Donate a mudkip to 折り紙ガイ today! 19:36, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

New Name

Just a rumor at the moment (i think, can't remember where i saw this) but in Platinum it will be renamed 'Global Terminal' because of the extra functions, like the battle recorder and wi-fi poffin cooking. -Rabla 3:27, 11 July 2008

"Seen" Pokémon

I could just test this out by myself, but I figured I'd ask and see if anyone knew right off the bat; for the purpose of being able to search/ask for a Pokémon in the GTS, what acts flags a Pokémon as "Seen"? I know the Battle Tower doesn't, but what about, say, fighting wifi battles through the Wifi Club or fighting using multi-card wireless play? Would be great to know. --Thembi 22:44, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure Wi-Fi and wireless battling don't count.--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 22:56, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

The only way a Pokemon will be registered as 'SEEN' is if you see it in the wild or in the ownership of a trainer, NOT a real life player or a trainer in a special area like Battle Tower or battle Frontier. -- unsigned comment from Bttsstewart (talkcontribs)

In RSE, Pokémon seen in contests can also be registered in the Pokédex, I am not sure if this applies to DP or not. Since I haven't compete in any contests after getting the Nationaldex. -Billy4b2004 11:29, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

New Page

Just from what Rabla said before, I was think of making a new Global Trade Station page for Platinum Version because the Platinum GTS seems a lot different and has more features than this GTS. What do you think? - Clarky13

I think simply describing the difference in Platinum would be more viable. It may be different, but it boils down to added features and still serves the same core purpose.--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 01:19, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Can D/P trade with Platinum?

I just got a Porygon2 over the GTS with a Japanese owner. It says "met at Veilstone at level 25". I don't know if this is a hack or a Platinum trade. Does anyone know?--RexRacer -talk 17:01, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure because I saw a Giratina, level 47 on the GTS. Dialgarules 19:51, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

Wait, that could have been hacked because that was a while ago. Dialgarules 01:42, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
Can R/B trade with Yellow? Can G/S trade with Crystal? Can R/S trade with Emerald? Of course D/P can trade with Platinum. TTEchidna 19:31, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Vanishing Glitch

I've just discovered something about this "Vanishing Glitch". Well, to perform it, do the following:

  1. Deposit a Pokémon.
  2. Make sure that the trade will be long; or ask an impossible trade.
  3. Perform a trade.
  4. After the successful trade, hit "Summary".
  5. You should see your Pokémon, not being traded yet.
  6. Now, leave as it is.
  7. You should see that it says "Deposit Pokémon" instead of "Summary".

I've just observed this thing several times. Don't know if my "theory" is correct with other games. Palkia38 12:16, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Global Terminal

As I have said before (or somewhere) that PUSA refers the GTS as Global Terminal and on the Platinum site it's been "renamed" as the Global Terminal so should it be moved?--☆Coolピカチュウ! 03:11, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

I agree, the Terminal in the place itself, not a part of it. *tc26* 02:38, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
I agree and disagree. I think we should edit it so that it says the right thing, but we shouldn't move it into a separate article.--Clarky13 01:49, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Odd glitches with Platinum?

I was trading Pokémon today (US version Platinum) and a few odd things happened:

  • Someone offered a L.20 Cranidos for Shinx♂, but when I tried to trade it wouldn't highlight my Shinx
  • Searching for Bidoof, I found someone offering a L.12 Piplup♂, asking for a Piplup♂
  • Searching for L.90-100 Magikarp, I found someone offering a L.100 Palkia (name MAGIKARP, nickname PALKIA, picture Palkia), asking for Palkia

Any idea what's doing it? --JDigital 08:44, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Your two glitches are something I've noticed (diamond)recently, I'm pretty sure they're both a result of the glitches mentioned in the main article where the picture glitches. Also, sort of related to the "controversy" section, but is Nintendo's code/policy on the GTS likely to change at all since plat. came out? I can barely get any trades other than lvl 100 Palkia/Diagla/event pokemon for anything. Is there any way in GTS to change the "set" of offers you get, since it only shows you so many? When I offer a pokemon it's usually taken within a day, but looking for a Glameow all I get are impossible or absurd trades in the first set it shows. --Barakku 16:28, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
I got a Glameow within a day. The best is to offer a Pokémon that's missing in one game, cute (Pikachu, Pachirisu), appearing in the anime nowadays, or otherwise valuable (L1 Pokémon bred from your starter, Pokémon traded from GBA). You can narrow the trade parameters down by country to get a different set of trades. And yeah, I've noticed that most trades seem to request starters or legendaries, and offer some random low-level trash. Surely they've got something better if the legendaries are in their Pokédex? --JDigital 19:00, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

I've had a similar problem with trading. Sometimes when I am searching, the game doesn't higlight the Pokémon that I am trying to offer. One example: I go ont the GTS and search for a Ho-oh. I see one asking for a Lugia. I look for one of the Lugias that I recieved in trade. They are not higlighted, but the ones I got from Pokémon XD are approved. I then go and try to get a different Ho-oh. All of the Lugia are highlighted, the ones recieved in trade included. Does anyone know why this would be? As for the Pokémon being different than expected, that means the trade has already been done. Poisson14 16:26, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

It's on the article already. Also, as the article says, it doesn't happen with PAL Platinum.

Level display glitch

In Platinum, when seeking for Pokémon, the game will not display the level range of the wanted Pokémon. This can result in confusion, where even if a person has the right Pokémon to offer, but it is not at the right level, it won't able to be selected without any clear reason.

It is unknown if this is a glitch, or was made on purpose. This glitch is not present in the PAL version of Pokémon Platinum.

The Pokémon appeared to have fled...

I was wondering what causes a Pokémon deposited to the GTS to flee. It happened to me recently (on Platinum). I decided to check up on a Wooper I put up for trade, and after checking the servers, the game said, "Your Wooper appears to have fled..." or something like that. Hm... --Volt_Pikachu 04:56, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

"There is a chance that a Pokémon might disappear from the GTS if you don't connect to the GTS for a long time." [1] MagicBarrier 18:49, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

Level display glitch

I challenge this "glitch" as it appears to be totally false. I'm a Platinum player and I have always seen the levels on trade requests. It may be also a NTSC version mess-up, but at least it is not present in PAL Platinum. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 14:31, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Also, the article states that when seeking a Pokémon, the OT and ID No. are not shown. This is partially false, as I can see the OTs when I search for a Pokémon in GTS. Is this another PAL or Platinum change? UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 08:55, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
They must've corrected the level display error in PAL Pt. But hey, we got the slots, so there. TTEchidna 18:06, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

Can't find myself in GTS

I just recently got Platinum and I'm trying to trade the starter Pokémon from Diamond to Platinum through the GTS but I can't find my character from Platinum. It only has 4 results. Is it because Diamond and Pearl don't communicate with Platinum in GTS or my internet? Also, when I try to search for some Pokémon to trade on Platinum, only 3 results come up. Is it also just my internet or is it supposed to be like that?(My DS and Wii suck when i try to use Wi-Fi) Fudgenuggets 05:32, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

You should go to the forums. But to answer your question, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.--Midnight Blue 05:39, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Pokemon that can't be "seen"?

Does the Dress up Data on the second floor apply to Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver Versions. If so we should add something mentioning the Goldenrod Underground dress-up area. Thanks. –MasterKenobi 19:01, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Another glitch?!?

Hey there is a glitch i found! Look up a pokemon on the GTS. If you find people willing to trade,, don't tap "select". Instead look up someone else. If it says GTS check failed, you may be able to press select anyway! But if you do, the screen kinda glitches up, and then you should TURN OFF THE GAME IMMEDIATELY!!!--Desukaan563, with a Pokedex of +380 (tAlk) 06:56, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

We need some kind of source to back it up. Either another site documenting the glitch, or pics/video would do. But we can't just go adding info on glitches willy-nilly when only one user has attested to them, without any corroborating evidence. --AndyPKMN 14:51, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
And a reason for turning it off immediately would be nice. PLA 18:30, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Gift Ribbons?

It's stated that Pokémon with Gift Ribbons (i.e. most event Pokémon) cannot be traded on the GTS. Can someone clarify if this applies to all global trading, or just the 'regular' GTS trade listings?

(Someone recently offered a shiny Suicune in GTS Negotiations and I could've sworn it had a Cherish Ball. Even though those negotiations fell through, it leaves me wondering.) --Stratelier 05:00, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

Just the GTS one, the one available since Gen IV. Random GTS Trading, Wi-Fi Club, etc. work. Also, can't you not see balls on the GTS? tc²₆tc26 05:49, 23 May 2011 (UTC)
Well ... I've never actually seen a Cherish Ball before; never acquired any event-exclusive Pokémon for that matter. After that trade fell through I immediately hunted up the wiki to resolve what kind of Poké Ball I was loking at, and that's when the question hit me. (I did notice you're allowed to trade Eggs in GTS Negotiations, but that's unrelated to this.) --Stratelier 20:31, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Gen IV and V GTS

Just out of curiosity, are Gen IV and Gen V running on different GTS systems? Obviously I can't trade a Zoroark to my SoulSilver game but I don't know about trading previous Gen Pokémon between the two games on the GTS. --いぬみみ 19:06, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

BW GTS has been broken

I had recently, on the GTS in BW, put in a request:

Braviary
Level 50 and up
<male>

offering a hatched Snivey. What I got out from the trade looked suspicious, being a Rufflet holding a bicycle in a Cherish Ball. I uploaded it to my PC for analyses and released it from the game card (I don't know what would have happened had I took the bike) These are the details:

PID 1850603822
Species Rufflet
Name Rufflet
Nicknamed? No
EXP 0
Held item Bicycle
Ability Keen Eye
Country Spain/Latin America (but it isn't using that name language...)
Origin Black
Pokérus Uncured
Met at Day-Care Couple
Ball Cherish Ball
Level met 1
Date 6/22/2011
Encounter Correct (Egg)
Hatched? Yes
^ Location Icirrus City
^ Date 6/23/2011
EV distrib 0/0/0/0/0/0
Moves Aerial Ace / Leer / Air Slash / Peck
OT Female Tanya
IDs 24121/51500
Extra byte All zeroes
Markers None
Ribbons None

This was given to me by the Nintendo Wi-Fi servers instead of what I asked for. What I'm wondering is if such as this has happened before, if Nintendo checks for this sort of stuff, and if I would experience any oddities on the game (I would expect not). Oh and Geonet shows nothing about it, so either location unregistered or it came from California. --TruePikachu 23:05, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

The nickname not matching the spanish name is actually normal, assuming the pokemon was bred in a spanish game and then traded to an english game before hatching. I mean, this was obviously hacked, but that part's at least plausible.
I do wonder how they managed to give you a Rufflet when you asked for a Braviary, though. o_O Yamiidenryuu 20:47, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
As a random point, Spanish names for Pokémon are all identical to English names (don't ask me why), which explains why the name is the same. That's the only thing about this that makes any sense, though. It is weird that the Rufflet was allowed through the GTS when it shouldn't allow badly hacked Pokémon (and I could have sworn that I read somewhere that the GTS normally doesn't allow badly hacked Pokémon such as this). --Blaziken257 23:03, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

Morphing Glitch

I have observed this for sometime... Morphing glitch occurs when...

  1. A Pokémon has been searched, and then...
  2. It was found; however, it has "transformed" into the "wanted" Pokémon.

This means that the Pokémon has already been traded, BUT has not yet been claimed by its owner. Palkia38 04:04, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

After Effects of DNS Abuse

Does DNS Abuse cause any of the following effects to a legit saved game:

  • save data gets corrupted
  • save data becomes unusable for tournament

Charzd 19:53, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

  • As long as the Pokémon aren't glitchy, no.
  • If the Pokémon you get are different in any way to those that could normally be obtained, then tournament officials may deem them hacked and ban you from the tournament (even if not in your party). This is unlikely to happen, but it is still against the rules to have any unnatural Pokémon in your game. --SnorlaxMonster 13:57, 22 November 2011 (UTC)

Random Matchup issue

Why does Random Matchup say, AFTER I go in : "There was a problem with your Pokemon, and you were not able to participate." then force me out?? My party-- Lv81 Emboar Lv89 Serperior Lv77 Volcarona Lv73 Hydreigon Lv66 Lucario Lv60 Braviary. Only Emboar and Braviary were not from the GTS. Well. Cam19L 15:45, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

Chances are that one or more of your Pokémon has been hacked (due to being from the GTS) and is detected as such by the servers. Alternately, check that your Braviary doesn't know Sky Drop (as Sky Drop is banned). --SnorlaxMonster 18:27, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

Split: Negotiation Trades?

In Generation V, both the Wi-Fi Club and GTS Negotiations proceed using the "Negotiation Trade" format, which is currently described here. Negotiation Trade is the term that's used in the English manual (p.45, "Wi-Fi Club"; p.49, "GTS Negotiations").

Can/should we split it? --Stratelier 18:27, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

Personally, I think: "Why should we split it when the section on the Article has enough information on it about GTS Negotiations?"
While I can't personally verify this (can only search videos on YouTube), it looks like Negotiations trades are the mechanism used for all Generation V trading, online or off. Every previous generation (GTS notwithstanding) only allowed you to trade members of your active party. And while I haven't attempted logging on to the GTS in Black 2 yet, its manual implies that Negotiations trades are the only method of GTS trading the sequels even support. In other words it's not a feature introduced in the "Gen V GTS" but Gen V as a whole. --Stratelier 02:46, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
Well, a quick check with the GTS receptionist easily confirmed that BW2 suports the same global trading methods (GTS and negotiations) as BW1. The BW2 manual definitely only explains how to do Negotiations trades, though (whereas the BW1 manual mentioned both). --Stratelier 16:11, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
Negotiation trades are the universal trade function now, I agree that this sounds like a good split. -EVsandIVsaurs 14:36, 21 March 2013 (UTC)

I would guess since HG/SS are on the same server, it is not available for those versions either. --Tails0600 19:47, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

Area?

Where is the GTS in HG/SS? --VictoryStar 23:49, 17 May 2012 (UTC)

Goldenrod City. It's mentioned in the article in the very first sentence: "The Global Terminal...is located in Jubilife City and Goldenrod City..." ht14 00:07, 18 May 2012 (UTC)

Another Glitch?

So I was on Black Version GTS. I searched for Hippowdon. I accidentally scrolled over a blank yellow circle. The game froze. It's happened multiple times with different Pokémon. Could someone else test it please? KyuremsIceBlade 20:43, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

Never mind. My game must have been glitchy or something. I'm glad I turned it off immediately once it froze... KyuremsIceBlade 23:51 31 May 2012 (UTC)
This has happened to me, but slightly different. i was searching for Deoxys on a whim and there was one person in the middle and one person on one of the ends. i taped the person on the end and my DS froze. it also apeared with a different pokemon, but i forget what that one was. but whenever i search for Deoxys that scientist pops up. _Volcronaperson_ 00:10, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
See here. --SnorlaxMonster 12:11, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
Hm, so it is a glitch, but it must have variations, since mine was slightly different from the one in the video. There was no random trainer far away from the others, just an extra space. Perhaps I can catch it on film if it happens again. KyuremsIceBlade (talk) 03:38, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

Yet Another Glitch?

I was searching for a level 100 Yanmega randomly in Black Version, and there were two trainers. Attempting to select either trainer resulted in a blue error screen asking me to turn the power off. Does anyone have any idea why? KyuremsIceBlade (talk) 03:31, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

That's a really weird glitch that happens randomly when you turn on your DSi/3DS and the WiFi capabilities glitch, it will say at the top (if you have your WiFi on): it will basically say the internet on but it doesn't detect it (the exact cause of this is unknown), even if your near a WiFi signal and you have the settings on it for that WiFi router. I was trying to figure this out myself, I was playing on my 3DS, and it showed my WiFi was on, but it wasn't detecting it, so I reset, and it worked fine. - Clubchloe1 00:12, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
Wait, that kind of error, I didn't know about that one, the one I was talking about is when it happens when trying to connect to Nintendo WiFi connection, or when checking the GTS's status. - Clubchloe1 00:17, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
I've had both happen to me tons of times, though I never figured out why. -- Pringles 00:21, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
Its strange, it never happened to me when I had my DSi (But now that I think of it, I never used WiFi on it), its happened to me about 2 times on my 3DS. ^But are you using a DSi? I had to clear out all my WiFi settings because I had multiple settings on it and it was trying to pick up all 3+ at once, but if you are using a DSi, I just recommend you only have one Internet Connection setting at a time. -Clubchloe1 01:09, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
I was on a DS Lite, and I only had 1 connection setting. For some reason I would get the blue screen at least every single time I tried a connection, sometimes I got it up to 5 times. Which adds up to around 50 or so blue screens. -- Pringles 23:30, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
The reason why this is happening to you is because the WiFi was meant to be used on a DSi or a 3DS, when you play Pokémon Black or White on a DS Lite and you get the blue screen is because the WiFi feature is disabled for the DS Lite on Black and White. -Clubchloe1 17:04, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
So that basically means, you need to get a DSi or 3DS. -Clubchloe1 17:07, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
WiFi worked for me sometimes, so I don't think it was disabled. It just had really bad connections. -- Pringles 17:54, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

BW/2 same server?

Before Black/White 2 came out, I would use the Random Matchup and Negotiation features quite a lot without any problem finding a trade or battle partner. Since then, I still use the Random features on Black 1, but it takes me forever to find anyone to trade with. Is this because the servers have been split (to prevent people from trying to trade a new form of Kyurem to an old game, or something) or a really unlikely coincidence that I haven't been able to connect with anyone since the games' release? (I already know that you can use the WiFi Club/Union Room with either game) Dimenticare (talk) 04:09, 28 November 2012 (UTC)

Sprites for the new formes aren't in BW, so there would have to be seperation of some sort. --Spriteit (talk) 04:19, 28 November 2012 (UTC)

Incompability

When X and Y are released, will the GTS no longer work for past games such as Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HGSS and the like? I haven't used it in recent years, so I dunno what Black and White's release may have done, so I'm curious.--Darknesslover5000 (talk) 21:55, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

Split

"Global Terminal" is officially an anachronism in Gen VI. Or at the very least has nothing to do with the GTS directly (maybe it's explicitly mentioned somewhere in X/Y I've not seen yet); when you need to access the GTS, you go through the PSS now. Even in Gen V, I would say the connection of the "Global Terminal" to the GTS was weak at best. (It's the barest header standing in the way of your selecting GTS when you interact with the rightmost lady on the second floor of a Pokemon Center.) Above, TTEchidna even mentions that the original building (location) is called Global Trade Station, while the interface calls the system the Global Trade System.

It is problematic to link to a page that is ostensibly about an old building when you need to refer to the GTS in Gen VI. Better, much more sensible if the GTS simply has its own page. Tiddlywinks (talk) 03:57, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

I support the split. No point to have the GTS stuff tied to this page anymore. Soulweaver (talk · edits) 19:13, 1 February 2014 (UTC)

Masuda Method Update?

Isn't the section on the Masuda Method and not being able to pass down the nature outdated? I can pass down any nature just fine even with parents from two different language games on X. I'd be more interested in knowing whether it's actually the language that counts or the country of origin, i.e. whether my Japanese game played in German counts as Masuda-ing with a Japanese Pokémon as a partner or not.
