Talk:List of Key Items in Generation IV

From Bulbapedia, the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia.

I created this using List of key items in Generation III as a template. I think I may have added too much information on things. Feel free to trim down the wordage if you find that appropriate.

What's the policy on sprites? I don't emu the game so screencapping isn't much an option. I can find most of these sprites on serebii.net, but I understand that Bulbapedia prefers unique content when possible, and for that matter I'm not sure what serebii's opinion is on that.

With that in mind, I'm not really sure about the placement of the sprite (you can only see it on SecretPotion, since that's the only one I could find an existing sprite for). Maybe a different format would work better for the list, but I wanted to go with what already existed. To that end, I kept some of the descriptions from the Gen III items that were carried over to Gen IV (for the fishing rods, for example).

The link on Storage Key actually links to the Gen III Storage Key description. Oops. Guess that needs a disam page or somesuch. Pdrydia 23:00, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Munching red links. Munch munch. Also removing the link to Storage Key, since it's kinda not useful.
I'm thinking maybe some of these item stub pages (the ones that get linked from this page) are superfluous, without much room for expansion, but I'mma leave that for the more Bulbapedia-savvy. I'm not terribly cool with the idea of deleting pages. -Pdrydia 14:53, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

beta?

The Point Card is not in Platinum, so it could be beta, and the Vs. Recorder is not on this list. - unsigned comment from Abcboy (talkcontribs)

It's not beta if it's not in the third version. TTEchidna 09:43, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

help with Storage Key

I am having huge problems with this Storage Key item, *where* exactly is it? can someone draw on a screen cap or something? tell me what I need to get it. pretty please. {{SUBST::User:ZaphodBeeblebrox/sig}} 19:59, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

We're not a walkthrough, bud. It's not that difficult; I don't think you can get it until after Snowpoint, though. TTEchidna 21:29, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

Secret Key Problem

The section on the Secret Key for Rotom has a broken link to its in-game picture. The actual picture's filename is Bag Secret Key Sprite.png. If an administrator could change this, that would be great. --*River* *Aura* 21:03, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Oops, I forgot there were multiple Secret Keys when I renamed the images. Fixed accordingly. —darklordtrom 21:15, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Apricorn Case

the Apricorn Case is not for growthing Apricorns its just for carrying them, so that needs to be fixed --DSDark 02:06, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Apricorn Shaker

It's not an item. It's actually an outside tool like Berry Blender or Poffin Maker. It's located somewhere near Pokethlon Place. --Maxim 13:50, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Berry Planter

I noticed the Japanese title of the berry planter isn't on the article, however, I am also unable to edit the page~. The Japanese title happens to be きのみプランター. Also, the Apricorn Case is ばんぎりケース, which also happens to be missing~. Hope that's helpful~! PoisonRose 00:08, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Cheers. Added. —darklordtrom 00:58, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Seal Case

The description is the same as the Pal Pad, needs to be changed, as its only used for carrying Pokeball Seals bought by player. Yourlilemogirl 02:05, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

new images

Well.. for some reason the article is locked but I already uploaded the Apricorn Case Bag Apricorn Box Sprite.png and the Berry Planter Bag Berry Pots Sprite.png images. -- AOS 20:56, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Done. --ケンジガール 20:59, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Took and uploaded 3 more, the names are the same as in 2nd gen. but the descriptions are longer. Basement Key Bag Basement Key Sprite.png Card Key Bag Card Key Sprite.png Squirtbottle Bag SquirtBottle Sprite.png -- AOS 22:47, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Forgot the Mystery Egg Bag Mystery Egg Sprite.png although it looks like any other egg sprite. -- AOS 23:30, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
also forgot the Red Scale Bag Red Scale Sprite.png, same as gen 2, you get an Exp. Share from Mr. Pokémon. -- AOS 01:08, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
Got the Rainbow Wing Bag Rainbow Wing Sprite.png and a New Item; UnownDex Bag Unown Report Sprite.png, it does the same thing as in 2nd gen but it is now a key item instead of an extra feature in the Dex. -- AOS 06:15, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
The "UnownDex" has its own page, Unown Note, to link to, when it is added. Also, Fashion Case is given by Kotone/whateverthemalecharacter'snameis in HGSS when entering the Goldenrod Underground for the first time. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 16:57, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
I have restructured the article to match the setup from the List of key items in Generation III, and reduced protection so that you experienced editors can expand this article. —darklordtrom 21:31, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Course_Map_Icon.png this is a icon of a Course Map for HGSS and the pokéwalker, exists some infos? --Hanmac 07:53, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

Beta items? We'll likely have more information when we can hack them into the English versions. TTEchidna 10:00, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Missing items

Hey. I have all key items in my english Rom of Platinum, incluiding the Red Chain, Magma Stone and the Seal Bag! In adittion for that, I will add a screenshot featuring the Magma Stone, Loot Sack, Rule Book, S.S. Ticket, Red Chain, Seal Bag and Contest Pass. I think we need to talk about this here. And, I think that a Trivia section will be good here, because we can add in "In Pokémon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum the Red Chain, Magma Stone and other items as example the Seal Bag, in the programming data." So...What do you say? --Ponav. Is a glitch master! 15:55, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

Well for a start, you shouldn't say that they're in DP if you haven't tested them in DP... —darklordtrom 20:36, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
They're beta items. While being in the code, they don't get mentioned on this page since they're never supposed to be in the player's possession. All of those items are in the hidden code for the Gen IV games. Just as many of the old Key Items from Gen III are. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 20:44, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

Red Blue Green Orbs

Why are we calling them by those names when the Japanese names are Crimson, Indigo, and Verdant? Is there any evidence that they will be called by those names in the US? --ケンジガール 09:24, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Because those were their names back in RSE, too. The only time when an item name was retconned in US version was Exp.All/Exp.Share (for obvious reasons). The only name in question is Green Orb. --Maxim 10:48, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
Does the blue orb exist in soul silver and does the red orb exist in heart gold?--Skaisdead 04:28, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
I think it's the other way 'round, with the Blue Orb and Kyogre in HeartGold, and the Red Orb and Groudon in SoulSilver. FireMeowth 06:15, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
Whichever way it works, do both exist in both games, or does one simply replace the other?--Skaisdead 18:46, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
They exist in the coding of both, but you can only legitimately get the Red Orb in SoulSilver and the Blue Orb in HeartGold, just so it's out there. TTEchidna 09:59, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Good Rod

The Good Rod is listed as the following: "HGSS Received from a fisherman inside Olivine City's Café. ". I found it inside the house south of the Gym in Olivine City with a fisherman that said something about the love of the sea... That was in Heart Gold version. Is there something I don't know about, or is this faulty information? TJF 03:37, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Messed up, someone did. TTEchidna 09:23, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Separate article?

So, we have a number of orb items (lustrous, adamant, griseous, blue, jade & red) which appear & recur across several media. It seems to me that we not only have enough information for a separate article but that it would be cleaner too, no?Green Zubat 19:57, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Explorer Kit

It seems to not exist in HGSS coding, can someone confirm that? Marked +-+-+ (talk) 12:54, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

Game description tags?

I see several key items in the list that are said to appear only in some of the Gen IV games, and yet their descriptions are tagged as being from other games as well. For example, the Old Charm only appears in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, yet the description is tagged as being from HeartGold and SoulSilver as well. Since Key items cannot (as far as I know) be transferred between games, I wonder whether the tags are mistakes, or if there is some way of transferring key items I don't know about. Does anyone know? Bookwyrm1357 (contact) 23:16, 19 September 2015 (UTC)

They can't be transferred, but the items still exist in the code of the games. --Abcboy (talk) 23:21, 19 September 2015 (UTC)
