Dawn (Japanese: ヒカリ Hikari) is the female player character of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. The male counterpart is Lucas. If the player chooses Lucas, she will become one of the the rivals for the game. Dawn lives in Sandgem Town with her little sister, grandfather, and father - who works as an assistant of Professor Rowan. She is already the Professor's assistant at the beginning of the game. She also demonstrates to the player how to capture Pokémon by capturing a wild Bidoof.

Dawn is also a character from the anime who travels with Ash and Brock in Sinnoh. She is modeled after the game character.

The character Ms. Berlitz from the Pokémon Special manga is also based off the design on Dawn.
