Pyukumuku (Japanese: ナマコブシ Namakobushi) is a Water-type Pokémon.

It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon.

Biology

Pyukumuku is a marine Pokémon with an ovoid, black body. Its face has two beady, pink eyes and a white mouth shaped roughly like a star or Daimonji. This Pokémon is capable of spitting its organs out through its mouth. The white organs typically take the shape of a fist or stay in the same shape as its mouth. Two lines of three pink spikes run down each side of its back. The middle spike of each line is about twice as long as the others are. A fluffy white puff forms its tail.

Pyukumuku tends to find a spot it likes and stay there, even returning to the same spot if moved. Once all the food in its favorite has been consumed, it will continue to stay there to the point of starvation. Its body is coated with a viscous fluid that allows it to stay on land for a week without drying out. If stepped on, it will expel its fist-like organs and particularly hates having its mouth or spikes touched. Tourists dislike Pyukumuku due to its appearance and lifestyle, so part time work is available on beaches chucking this Pokémon back to the sea. However, people in Alola have already taken to throwing the Pokémon back to the sea where it can find food when thin. The fluid that coats its body is beneficial to people as a moisturizer.

Pyukumuku first appeared in the Sun & Moon arc, as Sun throws the Pyukumuku back into the ocean, when one accidentally hits a girl in the face, covering her in its innards. He apologizes and explains that he is doing a part time job in the area to clear the beach of Pyukumuku by tossing them back into the sea. When the girl demands compensation for her wet clothes, Sun attempts to try and get out of paying her and offers to make it up to her. He tries to inform her that Pyukumuku's mucous is highly sought after by celebrities for skin care, but she doesn’t believe it.

Soon a pair of Team Skull Grunts appear and are the ones who hired Sun, as they plan to hold a function at the beach the next day and proceed to send out two Salandit to scout the beach. Just as the male Grunt is about to give Sun the money for the job, he refuses to pay him when his Salandit notices a Pyukumuku that had not been removed. The girl sees through this lie and points out that the female Grunt slipped the Pyukumuku onto the ground when no one was looking.

Pyukumuku is based on a sea cucumber; most likely the holothuria edulis, due to its black and pink coloring.
