Talk:Game mascot
Venusaur
I think Venusaur, as well as mention of Pokémon Green, need to be added to this chart. I can't think of a way to do that without making the chart fugly, though.--PikamasterADV 18:38, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
- Nor can I. I think I did it justice, though, as technically, the Japanese Blue was the third version of Red/Green like Crystal was of GS and Emerald was of RS. TTE 00:01, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
Arceus
On the Arceus Page it says that Arceus is the Version mascot of the 3rd game. It should either be added to this page or deleted from the Arceus page.
- There IS no third game yet; it's only speculation. And very bad speculation, seeing as how Arceus is an unobtainable. --DarkfireTaimatsu 19:42, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
Well, Nintendo has also registered pokemonjade.com, so I guess we'll have to see later.
Actually, Nintendo has NOT registered pokemonjade.com, but has for amethyst, topaz, and opal at least. Nor has Nintendo registered ivory and ebony yet, either, so a third version about Arceus called Ivory is rather silly (not to mention it would remove all necessities of the event), and I would expect Ivory to be coupled with Ebony in the first place and focus on Light and Dark type legendaries. That's just speculation, though. We can expect Amethyst and Opal to come soon. There's no pokemongirasol.com either, so the third game is probably Opal. Amethyst is the only other possibility, in my mind, as Cresselia and Heatran are the only other non-event legendaries past the end of the Sinnoh-dex, and it's a maybe that Topaz could be Heatran, but I'd be looking for a gem a bit more... how you say, "fiery" for Heatran. More likely it's Opal Version with Giratina, and Amethyst and Topaz are Gen V games. We'll also probably see remakes of Silver and Gold before the third counterpart to Diamond and Pearl, so there's a long way to go before that happens. Phil 03:15, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

I was thinking: "How would this look?" Is it good? Should we put it on the page? HAPPYVALENTINES DAY 23:12, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- It's an interesting idea, certainly. The only problem is the fact that they all look different across the generations. You have my go-ahead, though. We need to use the older sprites for more than just sprite tables. TTEchidnaGSDS! 00:04, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
Why does it say "US" in RGBY?? "INT" would be better as USA is not only place where Pokemon games are played or released outside of Japan... Ariano 16:40, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

protect this page!
I would protect this page if I was an admin, with the announcment(fake or not) of Girantia as maybe the third Game mascot, it would better to protect this page before the edit wars start........C is for Cookie 19:56, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
Odd error
I went in to remove the unneeded vertical "Johto" and "Sinnoh", but when I did, the first table element cannot be centered, and I can't seem to figure out why; I imagine this is a template issue. Can someone figure out where the problem is? MK 17:52, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
Opinions?
Should we keep both Giratina's form(e)'s pictured, or just one? People argue that we don't know which one will be on the boxart, but the fact is that Giratina is the mascot, and at this point it hardly matters if we end up being incorrect. I say we should just picture the Origin Form(e), as the chances are good that it will be the featured form in Pokémon Platinum. --ニョロトノ666 19:59, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
The chances are good??? BULBAPEDIA IS NOT BASED ON SPECULATION. A SCREENSHOT SHOWING THE ORIGIN FORM IN GAME DOES NOT PROVE IT WILL BE ON THE BOX ART.
It's alright now it has both pictures and says either or. The fact is we simply don't know yet. Sailor Earth 20:01, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- Regardless. Giratina is the mascot. Giratina is a species of Pokémon. What I'm saying is that at this point, it doesn't matter which form we put. However, it looks silly to have two sprites. --ニョロトノ666 20:04, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
It doesn't look stupid with both. And I am not alone on this matter as it was Pokemainiac02 that originally added it. Sailor Earth 20:08, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
And it's not regardless that Bulbapedia doesn't run on speculation, that's the rules, you can't say "regardless of the rules" unless you are an admin.
In fact this image
clearly depicts Giratina in Another Form although it is a silohuette so both appear in the game ending your earlier point. Sailor Earth 20:22, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- It does look strange with 2 sprites. I proprose the old form, the one available in game, until the cover art is released....C is for Cookie 03:08, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Origin Forme, guys. Charizard and Venusaur are in their RG sprites for RG, Charizard and Blastoise are in their RB sprites for RB, Pikachu in its Yellow sprite for Yellow, and so on and so forth. Giratina is seen in its Origin Forme in-battle in Platinum, so we'll use that. If it's proven that you can encounter Giratina in its Another Forme eventually, we'll use the normal sprite, but for now, let's use the Platinum sprite for Giratina, okay? White?
On the side of the Stadium 2 pannel/box.. whatever, it says white why not Stadium or S2? Rucario64 19:21, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Error when trying to add
I was going to add this:
==Generation V== ===BW===
But the link doesn't seem work for some odd reason. I'd spend time trying to figure it out but my session keeps randomly not getting sent when I click preview so it's sort of impossible for me to do it in any reasonably amount of time. Can someone figure out why, and add it when it's done, please? EDIT I figured it out XD, color, not color2. So...is grey a good color for the generation header? What determines that? - MK (t/c) 06:30, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Why ????
On the Locus of Light why at the EON DUO and LEGENDARY BEASTS is say ???? The Lati@s are Eon Duo and Raikou, Entei and Suicune are Legendary Beasts, no? --Caciulacdlac
- Yes, but this isn't what that's about. The question marks are there because we don't know their relation to the game's content. For instance, in Pokémon XD, Lugia is there as the main goal to catch. ht14 21:44, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
Generation V: Inverted Pairings
Generation V is the first time that the pairings between version color and version mascot are inverted. (I.E. Reshiram, the White Dragon, is the version mascot of Pokémon Black while Zekrom, the Black Dragon, is the version mascot of Pokémon White.)--Arima 02:56, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
BW2
We need to add BW2 to the list, we can use re-sized artwork for them until we get the proper sprites.ArchedThunder 13:18, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
Ho-Oh and Lugia
Aren't Ho-Oh and Lugia a legendary duo, not a legendary trio, as this article purports? -poikins 06:11, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
- It says that they are masters of a legendary trio, not that they are a part of one. Lugia is the master of birds and Ho-Oh is the master of beasts. --ケンジのガール 06:19, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Series?
There shouldn't be the pokemon from those series? I am not sure, thats why i am asking. Waiting for response. thanks SuckMyBlood
The home console games and Ranger games don't have version mascots =_=
This is ridiculous. The home console games (ie: Stadium, Battle Revolution, etc.) and Pokémon Ranger games don't have version mascots. They have Pokémon that appear in the box arts, but these aren't version mascots. Only the main handheld games have actual version mascots. Just because appearing in the boxart makes a Pokémon a mascot in the handheld games, that doesn't mean that the same rule applies to every Pokémon game ever made =_= Ericss (talk) 22:15, 20 April 2013 (UTC)
- Agreed. Munchlax and Piplup aren't mascots of Shadows of Almia any more than Alakazam is a mascot of PMD Blue Rescue Team. However, I will say that Shadow Lugia is the mascot of XD because it's the only side game whose boxart only features one Pokémon. Blueapple128 (talk) 23:44, 30 June 2013 (UTC)
3DS Download titles - is Pikachu the mascot for any of them?
Looking at them on my 3DS, Pokémon Shuffle, Pokémon Rumble World, Pokémon Picross and Pokémon Link/Trozei Battle all feature the head of Pikachu on their home menu icons. Pokémon Picross has no Pokémon at all on the top screen when showing the logo, Pokémon Rumble World has 8 equal Toy Pokémon revolving around its name, including Pikachu, which is at the front when the logo appears, Pokémon Link/Trozei Battle has small icons for the Kalos starters spinning round its name, all visible at the start, and Pokémon Shuffle features four bouncing, circling icons, with Pikachu being the one closest to the screen when the logo starts up. The Nintendo eShop informs me that Super Pokémon Rumble has Toy Pikachu on its icon, too, while Pokémon Art Academy has Pikachu on its icon and it is the only Pokémon on the top screen image in the store, while Pokémon Puzzle Challenge also has Pikachu on its icon, as well as the icon of PMDGTI On a case-by-case basis, do these factors make Pikachu the mascot of any or all of these games? PartHunter (talk) 14:32, 25 June 2016 (UTC)
- If they're distributed on physical carts, with a physical box, then that has to be considered over just the home menu icon. Even if they have no physical box, if there's any equivalent art "splash" that's meant to represent the title, then that should be considered equivalent to the box art. (The in-game title screen may be very relevant. If you consider the core games, their title screens often closely mirror the box art/represent the mascot.) If there's none of that...I'm really not certain it would be right to only base this consideration on the home menu icon anyway. Tiddlywinks (talk) 14:56, 25 June 2016 (UTC)
Cosmog
What exactly is the reason that we can't mention Cosmog? "Legendary Duo" is just a fanmade term to describe groups of two Legendary Pokemon since they are obviously intended to be connected but are not related. On the other hand, Solgaleo and Lunala are related: by being part of the same evolutionary chain. Using the fanmade loose connector when there's an official direct connector seems a bit ridiculous. Nutter Butter (talk) 02:13, 24 December 2016 (UTC)

- Duos (and other such) are not named in the plainest possible descriptors. They're named by something that links them. Tiddlywinks (talk) 03:10, 24 December 2016 (UTC)

- As near as I can tell, within the games, Xerneas and Yveltal are talked about together maybe as much as Solgaleo and Lunala are, if not less. The Legendary duo page says that duos either represent teamwork or opposition. Solgaleo and Lunala are a great example of thematic opposites, a plain-as-can-be duality. "Third and fourth game"
Would Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon be considered "third and fourth games" or alternate storylines? Crystal Emerald and Platinum can all be considered alternate storylines as well and are labeled as "third games" but their stories are not overhauled in such a way as Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are. ==13thehappykid.== 20:59, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
