Oranguru (Japanese: ヤレユータン Yareyuutan) is a recurring Pokémon character in the anime that first appeared in Mallow and the Forest Teacher!. It runs a little bar in the forest near Aina's Kitchen where people and Pokémon come to visit for drinks.

History

In the past, Oranguru helped Abe when he became lost in the forest. After tasting Oranguru's Pinap Juice, it gave Abe inspiration to start his own Restaurant. Rumours about Oranguru and its juice soon spread throughout the island and eventually its bar was built.

In the present, Oranguru came across Abe's daughter Mallow after she'd run away from home following a disagreement with Abe. Mallow was injured and unconscious following a fall down the slope and Oranguru took care of her injuries and provided her with Pinap Juice. Oranguru listened as Mallow talked about her problems before they were interrupted by a sound outside. Team Rocket had captured Mallow's Steenee. Oranguru stepped forward to assist Mallow and through the use of Instruct, Steenee was freed. Bewear showed up and exchanged supplies with Oranguru for drinks before leaving with Team Rocket. Soon after, Abe showed up having alongside Mallow's Classmates having seeked Oranguru's advice on how to find Mallow. Oranguru assisted Mallow and Abe in a reconciliation. Oranguru later served Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny when they visited its bar and listened as they complained about Comfey and Gumshoos.

Oranguru reappeared in Now You See Them, Now You Don't!, where it greeted Mallow who had unknowingly been Teleported to its place by Nebby, only to see them disappear moments later. Oranguru watched as Nebby teleported a wet Ash and Pikachu to its bar before teleporting them away soon after.

Oranguru reappeared in Acting True to Form!, where Meowth visited its bar for drinks after feeling dejected when Jessie and James favored an Alolan Meowth over itself.

Oranguru reappeared in SM086, where Mallow and her classmates noticed Oranguru on the boat to the Pokémon Hot Spring Paradise. It was later seen checking in and was nearby when Bewear and Team Rocket were resting in a hots spring after being defeated.

Personality and characteristics

Oranguru exchanging supplies with Bewear

Oranguru is a kind and helpful Pokémon, as it brought an unconscious Mallow to its bar, where it also attended her injured knee. It also stepped in to help her free Steenee from Team Rocket. It also knows Bewear as it frequently supplies Oranguru with honey in exchange for Pinap juice. Oranguru is shown to serve any customer that visits its bar, human or Pokémon.

In Acting True to Form!, when Meowth asked for another drink, it seemed concerned that Meowth had already had too many but served it another and listened to it when Meowth cried its heart out as Meowth explained the trouble it was currently having with its team members.
