Talk:Ritchie
Why does Pupitar have Grace as one of its nicknames?
Where is his name spelt with a t? --FabuVinny 16:46, 30 March 2006 (CST)
Starter Pokémon?
Could it possibly have been Zippo? After all, Ritchie does seem to be native to Kanto, and Delia and Oak mention that only Ash started with Pikachu due to special circumstances. Tom Temprotran 22:50, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
3 More Pokémon
Isn't it worthy mentioning that Ritchie had 3 more Pokémon in the Kanto League. Possible ones include Spearow, Tentacool and Rhydon. I'm surprised that no one pointed this out. This should be also mentioned that in Electric Pikachu Boogaloo manga Zippo was already a Charizard when Ash battled Ritchie. The battle between two Charizards was eh, bloody. --Maxim 17:56, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
- The Rhydon belonged to Asunta, his opponent. Nobody knows whether the Spearow or Tentacool belonged to Ritchie, so it's never mentioned. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to at least mention how either Spearow or Tentacool belongs to him, but nobody knows which one does. --PAK Man 22:58, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
Mispelling of name
I've looked through several Pokémon books, several Pokémon websites, and even looked at the closed captioning of the episodes that Ritchie was in and they all spelt his name like this: "Richie". Should this be changed? I know that the page is titled the correct way to spell "Ritchie" but I think it sould be the other way. --☆ケンジガール 06:50, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
- Well, we've gone with the books in the past... It's what makes the badge in the Orange Islands the Coral-Eye Badge. If you can scan the book, I suppose that'd be proof enough to say that a move is needed. TTEchidna 08:09, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
- Here's the proof. It's a scan from the book "Extreme Pokémon" and it's says its an official guide book. I circled Richie's name.

- Well, that's good enough for me. Now of course is... damn, how many pages link here? TTEchidna 15:48, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
- I brought it up in March of last year and we're only dealing with it now?
- The "What links here" page lists 111 links to Ritchie. Does Pie know how to work Bulbabot? --FabuVinny T-C-S 16:32, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
- I'm opposed to this idea. Puzzle League clearly spells his name as Ritchie. Additionally, the closed captioning of at least two Chronicles episodes with Ritchie in it go with "Ritchie" as opposed to "Richie". I wouldn't advise a movement, lest a move war ensue...--Shiningpikablu252 16:29, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

(Just for the record, I've went ahead and synchronized Ritchie's name and removed wording conflict. Only the "also" reference on Ritchie and the Trigun character on Kenji Nojima's bio were not changed to Ritchie since the former is regarded as an alternate spelling listing and the latter is an unrelated character. --Shiningpikablu252 16:49, 16 August 2007 (UTC))
Frodomar City?
I don't remember anything like that. --Maxim 14:38, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- Watch Celebi and Joy. The dubbed version of course. --☆ケンジガール 16:47, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- Screw Chronicles dub. I hate how they're missing important facts from original and adding their own (I don't consider those dub-added things as canon, however). Legend of Thunder is a main victim of it. I wouldn't be surprised if Ritchie'd be revealed to be from Pallet Town or some other actual town in Japanese version. But it's very unlikely, so I think we'll just have that random Frodomar City as the Ritchie's hometown forever. Unless writers decide to revive him. --Maxim 17:11, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Unpopularity
Um, Im sorry to interrupt and I know its not my place to go around asking stupid questions, but I wanted to ask why Richie is so unpopular in the fandom? TheRampardosMaster 23:54, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
- I don't have a solid answer to this, but I believe it's because many people believe he's an unoriginal character. The allegation has been that he is an Ash clone, and there is circumstantial evidence to support that, with the most obvious being that they catch the same types of Pokémon. Both have Pikachu, Butterfree, Charmander/Charmeleon, Taillow, and Ritchie has a Pupitar, while Ash temporarily took care of a Larvitar. That's what I think, anyway. --PAK Man Talk 23:59, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
I dunno, I like him... Maki 07:12, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
