In the core series games

Price

The Cherish Ball cannot legitimately be bought or sold.

Effect

Like the regular Poké Ball, the Cherish Ball has a catch rate modifier of 1×, but is not obtainable. Event Pokémon that do not require capture are often contained inside a Cherish Ball.

From Generation VI onward, the Cherish Ball and the Master Ball are the only Poké Balls that cannot be passed down via breeding. Instead, any offspring will be contained in a regular Poké Ball.
