Ash's Riolu (Japanese: サトシのリオル Satoshi's Riolu) was the third Pokémon that Ash caught in the new series, and his fifty-fifth overall.
History
Nurse Joy received Riolu's egg from the Sinnoh region.
After Ash saved Riolu from a wild Onix and he took it to be healed by Nurse Joy, Nurse Joy suggested that he should catch it, which he did.

Trivia
- Riolu is Ash's first capture of a Generation IV Pokémon since Gible, 483 episodes earlier.
- Riolu is the first Baby Pokémon Ash owns.
- Riolu shares similarities to Ash's Scraggy:

- Both hatched from an Egg given to Ash.
- Upon birth they both immediately started to recklessly battle every Pokemon they encountered, only to be outmatch by them all.
