Some Pokémon display natural traits related to the Game mechanics that cannot be transferable or negated by any means.

Shedinja

Shedinja will always have 1 base HP regardless of Level, Effort values and consuming HP-enhancing items. Although Shedinja can eat Dynamax Candy, its HP will remain at 1 regardless when it Dynamaxes.

In Generation IV, Shedinja immediately recovers from poison (instead of losing health) outside of battle after four steps.

In the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series, the standard A-button tackle will do one HP damage. In Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, foe Shedinja always has a maximum of 5 HP, whereas in Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness and Explorers of Sky, foe Shedinja always has a maximum of 10 HP. However, as a team member, Shedinja's HP is not capped.

Ground Embedding

Due to being embedded in the ground, some Pokémon have special interactions with certain mechanics.

  • In the Pokéathlon, Diglett and Dugtrio are unable to jump. In Hurdle Dash they dig under hurdles instead of jumping them, in Lamp Jump they cannot move, and in Disc Catch they can only move but not jump to catch the discs.
  • Since Generation V, when Diglett and Dugtrio are sent out, they merely fade onto the screen instead of dropping down like all other Pokémon.
  • In the Poké Transfer, Diglett and Dugtrio run between bushes rather than jump.
  • On the "Compare" screen of Pokémon X and Y's Pokédex, if the player taps the menu sprite of Diglett, Dugtrio, or Mega Gengar, the Flying-type Pokémon will give up and disperse before even trying to lift it.
  • Mega Gengar, Diglett, Dugtrio, Sandygast and Palossand are immune to Telekinesis.
  • If a Z-Move animation, such as Supersonic Skystrike, results in showing Diglett or Dugtrio in the air, it is shown still embedded in the ground.

Rayquaza

Unlike other Mega Evolutions, Rayquaza requires to know a specific move (Dragon Ascent) to Mega Evolve instead of hold a Key Stone. It also cannot Mega Evolve if it holds a Z-Crystal.

Dragon Ascent's animation also displays a different coloration when not used by Rayquaza.

Dynamax Restriction

Zacian, Zamazenta, and Eternatus cannot Dynamax. Eternatus is able to Eternamax instead, though the transformation cannot be obtained by the player.
