YouTube is an online video sharing platform, owned and operated by Google. The service allows users to upload and view videos, comment on them and subscribe to other user's "channels". As of April 2020, YouTube is the second most visited website in the world[2], and over 2 billion users watch over a billion hours of content every day[3]. Due to guidelines introduced to abide by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) most content related to the main Pokémon anime and its movies is marked for kids, disabling many features including comments[4].

Pokémon Generations premiered in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Dutch on The Pokémon Company International's official channel for each language weekly between September 16 and December 23, 2016, and in Portuguese starting on February 10, 2017. The series was added to The Pokémon Company's official Japanese channel between December 9, 2016 and February 2, 2017.

Pokémon: Indigo League

In response to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, between April 17 to May 12, 2020, two episodes of Pokémon: Indigo League were uploaded daily to the official YouTube channels of Malaysia, the Philippines, and Singapore as part of the "Home Fun for Pokémon Fans" campaign[5][6][7]. Starting May 12, 2020, two episodes of the Cantonese dub of the series are being uploaded each day to the official YouTube channel of Hong Kong as part of the same campaign[8].
Pokémon Journeys: The Series

For a limited time between March 18 to 31 and April 8 to May 31, 2020, every episode of Pokémon Journeys: The Series (that had aired before that time) was made available on the official YouTube channel of Japan for free[9][10][11].

It is possible to purchase or rent movies in 38 countries, and and TV shows are available to purchase in Australia, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. TV show rental is exclusively available in Japan[12].
