• Johto-Style Celebration

Lillie	Oh, <player>! Happy New Year! Right now, traditional outfits from Johto are in fashion here on Pasio!
Lance	There are many Trainers here from regions far from Johto. This must be pretty new for them. It's really changed the look of Pasio lately. When I'm out and about, I feel like I'm back home!
Lillie	These traditional outfits come in a bunch of different styles, but this design is the best for celebrating the new year! It wasn't easy to put on, but I did my best! Hehe! How does it look?
Lance	I also decided to mix things up and sport a new look for the occasion. Check out the Gyarados design on my outfit. Doesn't it look powerful?
Lillie	Speaking of designs, I've been seeing lots of cards around town with pictures of Pokémon on them! People send these kinds of cards to their friends and loved ones to celebrate the new year!
Lance	That's right. It looks like this year's cards have designs inspired by the Johto region. If you're interested, why don't we go into town to see the cards?

• Pasio's New Card Couriers

<player> and the others headed into town, which was bustling with activity for the new year. They came across a Trainer whose Pelipper looked a bit ill.
Lillie	Oh no, Pelipper. What's wrong?
Pokémon Ranger	Pelipper isn't feeling so good, so we're taking a breather here.
Lillie	I've an idea! Why don't we give Pelipper one of Ribombee's pollen puffs? They're really nutritious! And they're so yummy, I bet Pelipper won't want to stop eating them! Here, Pelipper. Say "ahh!"
Pokémon Ranger	Thanks a lot! Pelipper's looking a little better now! Now all we have to do is rest up at the Pokémon Center! But there's just one problem...
Lillie	Pelipper's mailbag... Were you making deliveries?
Pokémon Ranger	Yeah, we were in the middle of delivering greeting cards—a whole bunch of 'em, too. Pelipper really wants to make sure everyone gets their cards.
Lillie	Oh no, you can't! You'll overwork yourself!
Pokémon Ranger	I wanted to ask the other courier Pokémon for help, but it looks like they're all busy.
Lillie	Um...Lance, <player>? Why don't we help them deliver those cards?
Lance	Sure, I'd be happy to. I can't turn down a request from a Pokémon in need of help. My Dragonite can fly. He can help us deliver these cards. Why don't we say hi to some people while we're out making these deliveries?

Lance	We're here to deliver some cards from Ethan and Lyra, and we also came to say happy New Year.
Silver	From Ethan and Lyra?
Blue	Hey, that's awesome, Silver. Better take real good care of those cards, eh?
Silver	Hmm. How nice of them.
Lillie	We have a bunch of cards for you, too, Blue!
Blue	Cool, thanks! Wait, you guys are helping deliver these?
Lillie	Wh-whoa! Take a look at all these cards for Blue, <player>! Most of them are from Gym Leaders and members of the Elite Four!
Blue	Heh, what can I say? When you're as big as me, you rub elbows with a lot of important people! By the way, do you know if Red and Leaf got the cards I sent to them yet?
Lillie	W-wow! Even more famous names!
Blue	Hahaha! The three of us all go way back! But you better prepare yourself if you have cards in that bag for them! Those two are always running all over the place, and they're notoriously hard to pin down!
Lillie	W-we'll do our best!
Lance	Well then, I suppose it's time for us to go. Sorry for interrupting your practice session.
Silver	...Wait. Can you give these to Ethan and Lyra?
Lillie	Wow! What pretty feathers!
Lance	They're Ho-Oh feathers. It's a really popular design on clothing and greeting cards in Johto.
Silver	I got these from Ho-Oh. Unfortunately, I don't have any cards to send. But one look at those feathers, and they'll know exactly who sent them.
Lance	Pretty fancy way to send a greeting! Looks like there are three feathers...
Silver	Yeah, one's for you. The message is the same for all of them. "I'm definitely not going to lose to you."
Lance	I understand! And I accept!
Blue	That's a great rivalry you've got there! Reminds me of my Kanto days!
Lillie	Well, time for us to head out again! See you later, Blue, Silver!
Blue	You, too! Be careful out there! Happy New Year!

• New Year's Resolutions

Lillie	Phew! Looks like we're almost done delivering all these cards! Let's see, this next one is... Oh! It's for you, Lance!
Lance	For me?
Lillie	Here you go! Looks like it's from Clair!
Lance	Thanks, Lillie. It's been a long time since I've gotten a card from Clair. What's this? "I'll be waiting for you at the beach." Hahaha! It sounds like she's challenging me to a battle!
Lillie	Well, we also have some cards for her. Why don't we head over to the beach?
Lance	I see... In that case, I guess I'll accept her challenge! To the beach!
(Transition to the beach)
Clair	There you are, Lance! Come on, let's battle!
Lance	Of course! I, Lance the Dragon Master, accept your challenge! And since I'm wearing this impressive Gyarados outfit, Gyarados and I will take you on!
Clair	What?! You're using Gyarados?!
Lance	Well, Dragonite is out delivering cards right now. Besides, the best Trainers know how to adapt to unpredictable situations, right?
Clair	I-I know that! Let's go, Kingdra!
(Lance battles and defeats Clair)
Clair	Urgh... We practiced so hard to battle Dragonite at this spot. We even had a strategy to use the environment to our advantage.
Lance	I see. You had a game plan and everything. That's why you sent me this card, huh? I remember when we were kids, you once sent me a cute card that had dragon Pokémon on it. Ah, that sure takes me back...
Clair	Why do you even remember that? It was such a long time ago!
Lance	So what was your plan if I didn't show up? Were you going to wait here all day?
Clair	Of course not! I was planning on training here anyway!
Lillie	Clair, why did you want to battle Lance right at the start of the new year?
Clair	Hmmm. You could say it was one of my New Year's resolutions. It's a chance for me to look back on how much I've grown and set goals for the new year!
Lillie	I see! So that's why you wanted to battle right when the new year started! Oh, before I forget—there are a bunch of cards here for you, Clair!
Clair	Really? Thank you! *chuckle* There's even one from Iris. Wait, you're delivering these? Are you sure it's OK to take such a long break?
Lance	We'll be fine! We're actually ahead of schedule.
Lillie	But we should probably get going now. See you later, Clair!
Clair	Yeah, see you later! I'm gonna beat you for sure this year, Lance!

• A Heartfelt Thank-You

After successfully delivering all the cards, <player> and the others went back to town to tell Pelipper the good news.
Pokémon Ranger	Thank you so much! Pelipper's feeling a lot better now!
Lillie	No problem! I'm so glad you're feeling better, Pelipper! Don't push yourself so hard, OK?
Pokémon Ranger	As a little thank-you, please accept these cards from me!
Lillie	Wow! Look at all these designs! Are you sure it's OK for us to have these?
Pokémon Ranger	Yep! Feel free to send them to all the special people in your life! This time, Pelipper and I will be the ones making sure they get delivered!
Lillie	Awesome!: Thank you! I'm glad we were able to help! These designs are great!: Aren't they? There are even designs with Clefairy and Ribombee! Feel free to call on us again if you ever need help making deliveries! Ribombee and I had a lot of fun delivering all those cards!
Soon after that, <player> and his/her friends wrote a lot of messages on those cards.
Lillie	We asked the courier Pokémon to deliver most of the cards... but as for the rest, I think we can deliver these in person!
Lance	Very well! Let's head on out!
(Transition to Lillie giving cards to Lusamine, Gladion, Mina, Hapu, Acerola, Olivia, Kukui, and Hau)
Lillie	To all my dearest friends and family from Alola, happy New Year! Ever since I arrived on Pasio, my days have been full of exciting experiences and encounters. I'm enjoying my time here every day. I think that I'm able to have so much fun thanks to everything you all taught me back in Alola. I'll keep on doing my best to become a great sync pair with my Pokémon. The next time I see you, I hope we can surprise you with how much we've grown!

Serena	Now that you're here, let's get started collecting the ingredients we need to make sweets. How do we do it?: By having Pokémon battles at the ingredient shops! Collect? We aren't buying them?: When we find ingredients we want, we have to challenge that store to a Pokémon battle!
Dawn	Lear made a special deal with the shops here on Pasio just for Palentine's Day. The deal made it so that we can get the ingredients we need for Palentine's Day sweets through Pokémon battles!
Serena	Right! So all we have to do to get ingredients is win battles! Sounds good! I'm ready to battle!: That's the spirit! With you and Dawn here, getting all the ingredients we need will be a piece of cake! OK! Let's get lots of ingredients!: Yeah! With you and Dawn here, gathering ingredients will be a piece of cake!
Dawn	All right! Before we battle, let's check what ingredients we need.
Serena	We're going to make Poké Puffs. They're a popular treat in Kalos. As far as ingredients go, we'll need frosting, chocolate, and Berries. I think the perfect shop for us is right over there!
(Transition to Cheryl with an Ace Trainer (1))
Dawn	Wait, is that Cheryl over there?
Ace Trainer (1)	Are you sure I'll be OK? You've done so much to help me. If I just fail again...
Cheryl	Don't worry! I know you'll do a good job with this recipe.
Serena	Hello, Cheryl. Is something wrong?
Cheryl	Oh, hello, Serena and Dawn. Ah, <player> is here, too, I see. Are you all here to gather what you need for Palentine's Day sweets?
Dawn	Yes, but we can stop to help out if there's something you need help with!

Ace Trainer (1)	I tried a few times, but I could never quite get it right. I was sitting here in front of the shop, trying to figure out if there was anything I could actually make, when Cheryl offered to help.
Cheryl	I thought she might have a better chance with a simple recipe, so I told her one that I know. But she said that she still wasn't confident in her ability with just the recipe alone, so...
Dawn	I see. In that case, why don't you two come make sweets with us? I know how it feels to have someone special who you want to show thanks to. What do you two think of that plan?
Serena	The more the merrier!: I don't mind, either. Let's make some tasty sweets together! It sounds like fun!: It sure does. Let's all have fun making some tasty sweets together!

Professor Bellis	Mais bien sûr! But of course! Palentine's Day is a day to enjoy together with friends! I have everything you would ever need to make sweets here. Have at it!

Serena	Hmm... Maybe check the heat you're using, too? Oh, Whimsicott! Would you bring us some new ingredients, please?
Dawn	Would you like to try mixing with me? Alcremie, get ready with the frosting for when they're done baking!
Professor Bellis	Don't worry about breaking any of my tools. I can always fix them! Just think of this as an eksperimenteer!
Lillie	We'll help, too!
(Dawn and Serena help the Ace Trainer (1), but cause another explosion)
Ace Trainer (1)	Why can't I ever get it right? No matter how many times I try, I always fail! I've tried everything! I give up!
(The Ace Trainer (1) leaves)
Dawn	We have to go after her!: Yes, we do! I want to make sure she makes it to the end of this baking adventure with us! There are still things she can try!: You're right! We still have time. I'm sure she'll figure it out!
Professor Bellis	I'll clean up here. You all run along and find your friend!
Serena	What? These sweets...

Ace Trainer (2)	Hey, would you mind if I join you to look for that girl who just ran off?

Ace Trainer (1)	I can't keep on trying! I don't want to fail again!
Dawn	It's OK to make mistakes! The important thing on Palentine's Day is the heart that you put into your gift! You worked so hard to collect ingredients and were doing your best at making the sweets. You've already put a lot of heart into it!
(Lillie and Mina appear)
Mina	I agree with Dawn. You looked like you were having fun when we were cooking, no matter how many times you messed up. You had such a great smile that I forgot what I was doing and started sketching you instead of cooking!
Ace trainer (1)	Well, you're right. I was having fun cooking... I even imagined the looks of happiness on the faces of the people receiving the sweets. But just because it's fun doesn't mean I can do it well, and there's no point if I can't do it well!
Serena	I believe in you! These sweets of yours show just how much heart you have!
Lillie	Two? You were trying to make two different sweets? Were you maybe trying to make enough for your partner Pokémon as well?
Cheryl	Well, I think that explains why the ingredients didn't work together! In that case, why don't we increase the amounts of the ingredients you're using and tweak the recipe a bit as well?
Dawn	Just increasing the ingredient amounts may not be enough. We might need to cook them differently, too...
Lillie	Oh! I have an idea! In Alola, we sometimes just share a single big malasada with our Pokémon!
Serena	That's a great idea! Instead of making two smaller ones, we can just make a single big one! That might be just the idea to make this work!

Morty	I see... With all the participants making their way to this room, you were bound to run into someone. And then, even if you did make it safely to your mask storage, you may have found it empty. I think someone might have mistaken your masks for party decorations... We saw a bunch of them hanging up on the walls.

Caitlin	That reminds me, is this Gengar your partner Pokémon?
Allister	Y-yeah... Gengar could tell how frightened I was to leave this room... So I think he ran off with the other ghost Pokémon t-to chase away all the participants.
Hilbert	So THAT'S why all the ghost Pokémon have been acting so aggressive toward us...
Allister	D-don't blame the ghost Pokémon! It's not their fault... They were doing it for my sake... Please don't hate them...
Caitlin	Oh, I could never hate them. In fact, what they did for you was so kind... I may love them even more now.

Hau	Lusamine told me about it, too! So I have an idea of what it is! Apparently, Necrozma is a vicious Pokémon that came from another world in ancient times!
Kukui	And it seems this Necrozma appeared in the form it takes when it's absorbing power from Solgaleo. Rumors about it appearing on Pasio have spread like wildfire. Word is some bad folks are starting to act on those rumors, too!

But in the Galar Gym Challenge, my Gym is the second that challengers visit...which means I'm still not as strong as I'd hoped. I still can't seem to beat Leon...and I have to admit, I felt some pressure when I heard you'd already became a Pokémon Professor!

Nessa	But right now on Pasio, I'm getting exposure to all sorts of Trainers and experiences! There's other models like Elesa... and Lana likes fishing, too, so we get along quite well.
