"A Ripple in Time" by Pokémon × Daniel Arsham is an anime short produced for the art exhibition A Ripple in Time (Japanese: 時の波紋 A Ripple in Time) by Daniel Arsham. It was first released on February 12, 2022 on YouTube, featuring Japanese audio and English subtitles. The short was screened at NANZUKA UNDERGROUND in Tokyo, Japan from February 12 to March 27, 2022.
A teaser video for the short was released on January 28, 2022.
Plot
The short opens with Ash Ketchum and his Pikachu engaging in battle with an unnamed trainer and his Cubone - it is noted that these two were each trainer's final Pokémon. The battle is evenly matched despite Pikachu's inability to use any Electric-type moves for any purposes other than destroying Cubone's Swift attack. The battle is interrupted when Celebi flies over the battlefield, and transports Ash and Pikachu over to another world where they see partially crystalised statues of Pokémon such as Jigglypuff, Blastoise and Mewtwo, and other Generation I Pokémon. Ash chases Celebi throughout the grasslands and runs through a cave in an effort to return to his own world, eventually crossing onto a bridge. There, he is reunited with Celebi, but also comes face-to-face with Dialga. The legendary Pokémon lets out a loud roar, with the short ending at this stage with a "to be continued" screen.
