Pokémon: Master Quest is the fifth season of the dubbed version of the Pokémon anime. It follows the final adventures of Ash, Misty, and Brock in the Johto region, from the Whirl Islands to Mt. Silver.

It originally aired as part of the 2002-2003 Kids' WB! Saturday morning lineup. The season began with Around the Whirlpool, which originally aired on September 14, 2002, and ended with You're a Star, Larvitar!, which originally aired on September 6, 2003; it was later extended to include all of the episodes until the end of Pokémon the Series: Gold and Silver with Hoenn Alone!. This season skips EP250, which was banned from airing.

It is preceded by Pokémon: Johto League Champions and succeeded by Pokémon: Advanced, the first season of the dub of Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire, which is based on the Generation III games. This season is also the last of the 4Kids Entertainment dub to be produced at TAJ Productions.

Blurb

With the Olivine City Gym temporarily out of commission, our heroes are off to the Whirl Cup Competition—and Misty wants in on the action! Resuming their journey, they find that Jessie, James, and Meowth aren’t the only members of Team Rocket they need to worry about, though that dastardly trio still has a few tricks up their collective sleeve. After a heated battle with the final Gym Leader, Ash moves on to the Silver Conference, but does he have the mettle to take on his old rival, Gary?

• Ash reaches Mt. Silver and returns Larvitar to its mother. (EP262 - EP264)
• The Silver Conference takes place. (EP265 - EP272)
  • Ash, Gary, and Harrison get through to the Victory Tournament. (EP268)
  • Ash has a Full Battle against Gary and wins. They end their rivalry and become friends again. (EP269 - EP270)
  • Ash battles Harrison in the quarter-finals and loses. Ash places in the top eight. (EP270 - EP272)
  • Harrison loses to Jon Dickson in the semi-finals. Jon goes on to win the Silver Conference. (EP272)
• Ash, Misty, and Brock part ways on their return to Kanto. (EP273)
• Ash sees Ho-Oh fly towards Hoenn and decides to head there with just Pikachu. (EP273)
• Team Rocket follows Ash and Pikachu to the Hoenn region. (EP274)

Toonami coloration

• There was a differently-colored version of the logo used on the Toonami Jetstream website. This variation of the logo was used until January 20, 2009.
• This is the first season to only have one voice director, Jason Bergenfeld.
• This is the last season of the anime to air in Bulgaria and Romania before the release of Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl, seven years later.
• This is the last 4Kids-dubbed season to be produced at TAJ Productions.
