Mimicry (Japanese: ぎたい Mimicry) is an Ability introduced in Generation VIII. It is the signature Ability of Galarian Stunfisk.

Effect

In battle

Depending on the terrain, Mimicry will change the type of a Pokémon with this Ability. Its type changes as follows:

When terrain ends, the Pokémon reverts back to its original typing.

Mimicry will activate after the Pokémon with Mimicry is switched in, or whenever there is a change in terrain; changing the Pokémon's type by other means (such as via Soak) will not cause Mimicry to activate and override that type change.

Mimicry will activate regardless of whether the Pokémon with Mimicry is grounded or not.

If a Pokémon transforms into a Pokémon with Mimicry, its original untransformed type will be used when no terrain is active, rather than the transformed Pokémon's type.

If the Pokémon with Mimicry has a third type due to Forest's Curse or Trick-or-Treat, when terrain triggers Mimicry, it will only change the first two types, keeping the third one.

Outside of battle

Mimicry has no effect outside of battle.
