Wild Area General Info

After a brief cutscene with you and Hop on board the Galar train, you will unexpectedly stop at the Wild Area station instead of Motostoke station due to Wooloo blocking the track.

From here, you and Hop will be introduced to the Wild Area, a vast and expansive place filled with Wild Pokémon with plenty of exploring to do. You must cross this area to reach Motostoke on the other side of the southern Wild Area, and there are plenty of sub-areas within the Wild Area. The Pokémon here change every day based on the weather, so it's worth visiting on a daily basis for the prospect of certain Pokémon showing up. Note that there will be both overworld encounters and random encounters in the grass. There are also certain wandering Pokémon that respawn once a day: however, many of them are extremely high level and will be unable to be captured until you have a sufficient number of badges.

Among other things that can be done in the Wild Area include shaking Berry Trees: note that it is best to stop once the tree starts shaking rapidly, as the faster the tree shakes, the more likely a wild Skwovet will show up and lead to some, if not all of the Berries being eaten.

Pokémon Camp is another thing you can do around this area. With the Camping Gear in hand, you can play with your Pokémon, cook curry, and gain some experience and friendship for each Pokémon. Definitely play around with this feature to make the bonds between you and your Pokémon stronger.

The Wild Area is divided into two segments: the Southern Wild Area, which you are currently in at this point of the game, and the Northern Wild Area, which while accessible, is filled with Pokémon at much higher levels, so it is best to avoid going there for now.

The Wild Area is also filled with Pokémon Dens, with which you can gain Watts that can be used as currency in the Wild Area with Watt Traders, who can offer items and Technical Records. This is also filled with Dynamax Pokémon with which you will participate in Max Raid Battles with, which are four-on-one battles against said Dynamax Pokémon. You can do these online with other players, or single-player if you wish, in which case AI Trainers will fill in as allies.

The following sub-areas of the South Wild Area will be filled with different Pokémon depending on the weather: (Note: This will only cover Pokémon who can be captured at this point. Any Pokémon above Level 20 cannot be captured, so if you see one of these, run immediately).

Motostoke Station

Before you take off on your adventure be sure to stack up on Poké Balls if you forgot before leaving Wedgehurst at the Poké Mart in the right hand corner!

Also, if you have a Let's Go Pikachu OR Let's Go Eevee file - speak with the 2 children in the northwest corner of the train station for a free Pikachu and Eevee respectively. Both can be Dynamaxed.

Speak with the girl beside the Swinub in the train station to get 5 x PokeDolls (no previous save files required).

When you exit the Station you will have free control of the camera!

The person immediately outside the train station will heal your party for free if you don't want to head all the way into the next town.

After you've done everything you want to do in the Wild Area, head straight for Motostoke, which is signaled by a large gateway building with a massive stairwell on the other side of the southern Wild Area.
