The Referral Code (Japanese: リファラルコード Referral code) is a feature in Pokémon GO that unlocks several rewards for new and returning players. This feature was added on March 30, 2021.
Obtaining a code
A referral code can be obtained from another player who already installed Pokémon GO. To get the code, the existing player need to go to their Friend List and tap Invite. The code can be shared with a new player or a player that has not played in at least 90 days.
Redeeming a code
When a player opens up their game, they have the option Have a Referral Code? that allows them to redeem a code. If the option is not available upon the initial login, the option is still available on the Friend List by tapping Invite. When a code is submitted, a friend request will be sent to the existing player. The other player has to accept the friend request in order to get the rewards. The code must be redeemed within 72 hours of creating or logging into their account.
Adding friends
A player can select the option Add Friends from Contacts/Add Facebook Friends to invite friend. When the option is accessed, the following message will appear:
- "Hi <player>, I thought you might enjoy playing Pokémon GO together. Would you like to join me?"
- "We can both receive bonuses by using my referral code <code> when you sign up. Follow this link if you're interested:"
- "<link>"
- "I look forward to adventuring together!"
Rewards
Items
The Trainer who summitted the code receives 100 Poké Balls, while the Trainer who shared the code receives the Friend Finder Medal*/has their Friend Finder Medal raises by 1* and they receives 50 Stardust.
