Professor Phorus, head researcher of the Aeos Research Institute

The Aeos Research Institute is an organization in Pokémon UNITE. Its goal is to investigate the properties of Aeos energy, a mysterious energy found on Aeos Island. Professor Phorus is the head researcher, with Erbie working underneath her.

During the tutorial of Pokémon UNITE, Professor Phorus introduces herself as the organization's head researcher. She then introduces Erbie, who allows the player to borrow the institute's Pikachu to use while learning the rules of Unite Battles in Tutorial (Basics 1) and Tutorial (Basics 2).

The Aeos Research Institute invented a system that can convert Aeos energy from Unite Battles into energy rewards. Professor Phorus allows the player to use this machine after they reach trainer level 6, and personally instructs the player in how it works, calling it a "new invention".

The exact relationship between the Aeos Research Institute and the Unite Battle Committee, an organization which organizes the Unite Battles that heighten the power of Aeos energy, is unknown. However, Erbie and Phorus both have positions in the Unite Battle Committee.

It is possible that the Beginner Challenge, an event for newly arrived Trainers on Aeos Island, is hosted by the Aeos Research Institute. [1]

The Aeos Research Institute is never referred to by name in the tie-in manga Pokémon UNITE Manga - Come On Over to Aeos Island!. However, the system that they invented is seen in a vision as part of a speech Phorus makes in Aeos Energy.
