really like this new template. i have been thinking for some time, since the japanese blue pokemon is different from others, shouldn't we have another colume for it? -Pokeant 17:59, 21 August 2010 (UTC) EDIT: under location for areas such as pokemon tower and the mansion in kanto, should we put is as grass or cave? or maybe we should think of something else. plus, fossils should be under rate instead of location such as the old template in Cinnabar Island. hope feedback is useful. -Pokeant 18:27, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

For buildings, just put floor numbers. The default is stairs for that very reason. TTEchidna 23:49, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Catch3a

Can also be used on Altering Cave. --SnorlaxMonster 08:55, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

Uneven column widths...

...are uneven. Is this a hard-to-correct problem, or is there some other reason that the column widths aren't fixed to custom percentages...? Ztobor 17:31, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

update bw table

the time does not affect the pokemon, but seasons. we should change is to reflect the season instead of the time. also, there should be other entries for the double pokemon grass (i think it is a darker version of the grass, and other new mechanics in the game, such as special spot in caves which may give item or pokemon etc. -Pokeant 17:35, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Ilex Forest

It needs some king of special option for wild Pokémon available there. --SnorlaxMonster 02:00, 30 October 2010 (UTC)

Pokémon outbreak

Can someone good with templates please fix the parameters so that "Swarm" links to Pokémon outbreak instead of Mass Outbreak. This will fix several links that are currently redirects. Thank you. --Pokemaster97 22:24, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

Anyone? --Pokemaster97 01:19, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
Someone that can bypass protection can do it, i.e. an admin. It's in the individual Catch/x templates. Malake256 04:53, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

Sprites needed

Doesn't this template need a rustling grass and rustling water sprites needed? If so I could find and upload them and let someone add them. Frozen Fennec 00:25, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

It does. Flying Pokémon's shadows, dust clouds, and deep sand as well. --SnorlaxMonster 00:42, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
Alright then, I'll get to hunting up all 5 of them right away! :D Frozen Fennec 00:44, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
Couldn't get one of Deep Sand but I got the other four. Not the best quality but hope they work for now:

Only one thing

For legendaries, i get the only one thing, because there's only one, but I think legendaries should have their own thing, like this: Ani151MS.png Legendary Purrloin! Meow!!! 21:53, 28 April 2013 (UTC)

A few thoughts

Hey, so I just edited the page to add B2W2 and Gen VI. A few questions:

  • Should the template for ORAS really include all those things from Gen V ("Sand", "Dark", "Rustling",...)? Probably the wrong place to ask that.
  • Should all of the options be included, even though they are never used on the actual pages? (Such as "Swarm" for post-GenIV games)
    • Talking about template editing, it'd be nice to format everything the way Template:Catch/entry7 is formatted in the "view source" option with all possible entries on a new line (well, except "Fake", but still)... it'd be way more readable.
  • How do we add SM/USUM to the table at the top, as it has a different amount of columns than the rest (+ Allies)? Should it be added separately, or should the whole table be just made int a Gen VII one? Added separately for now.
  • Talking about SMUSUM, what would be the best description for the day/night times? Should the MUM 12 hour time difference be mentioned, is it necessary? Should the Time article be linked?

Can we say this is now up-to-date and remove the "outdated" stampe? Thanks for any answers on this, or redirections who to talk to. ~KingisNitro (talk) 00:35, 26 August 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for finally editing this long-overdue edit. sumwun (talk) 00:54, 26 August 2018 (UTC)
Had to figure out most of them by seeing them used, but hey, you're welcome. Still, it could be better... ~KingisNitro (talk) 02:10, 26 August 2018 (UTC)

gen 1 update

Can we update the gen 1 template to include japanese blue? the location data are different. i have an example i did long time ago. hope to have some feedback, or feel free to edit to make it look better?

A colored background means that the Pokémon can be found in this location in the specified game. A white background with a colored letter means that the Pokémon cannot be found here.

If it is too much work to edit every kanto location, we can always set the parameters to the end so that the template works fine on those pages that are not updated. just like how the hidden 3rd column for gen 5 is still there so we do not have to edit every unova location just to change the template. -Pokeant (talk) 09:53, 28 September 2018 (UTC)
Out of curiosity how many differences are there between the two. One reason the head of staff may be against though is it would significantly increase the number of switch templates that would have to be used on the pages. I'm not very template savvy though, so I might be wrong. --Spriteit (talk) 00:16, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
Areas that are quite different are the safari zone and cerulean cave. Jynx can be found in the wild in seaform island. blue's exclusive list is a mix of red & green's. in a previous discussion, the admin says it is not worth the trouble to record all the japanese blue encounters since we are an english wiki. but as an encyclopedia, i think we should still include it. we have many articles about japan exclusive games, events, tcg etc. just because we are an english wiki does not means we should have incomplete information. -Pokeant (talk) 05:33, 4 October 2018 (UTC)

Gift Pokemon

Putting the word "Grass" in the fifth/sixth parameter makes a cell that links to Tall grass, so can the fifth/sixth parameter do the same for "Gift" and Gift Pokémon? sumwun (talk) 07:06, 14 January 2019 (UTC)

Also, can "Special" make the cell link to List of wild Pokémon from in-game events? sumwun (talk, contribs) 18:33, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
It's been more than 6 months, but I still want someone to make this edit. sumwun (talk, contribs) 21:21, 9 May 2021 (UTC)

Update for Legends Arceus

Can a Catch/entryla be added for Legends Arceus?? Cheers. VilkaTheWolf (talk) 06:26, 5 February 2022 (UTC)

Are we still getting one of these for LA? Many people have made pages using other tables to get across the information in the absence of this. FenomOO (talk) 21:29, 15 February 2022 (UTC)

Shouldn’t the Red, Blue, Emerald, Y, Sword, Shield, Scarlet and Violet text be white?

Seems to contrast better being light text vs dark background Pikmin 3 Wii U 20:13, 11 June 2024 (UTC)

In other templates that use this same color scheme (such as Spritebox) all the games you mentioned use white text except Red. So, for the sake of consistency, I can change all the games you listed (except Red) to use white text. Storm Aurora (talk) 21:33, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
