Talk:List of Pokémon Conquest characters
I plan on getting the game eventually, but I would like to suggest if these characters could have separate articles so that we can write information about their real life counterparts, and more information on their game characters. I think it would be really beneficial for them to have separate pages. MaverickNate 16:42, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
- I would agree that the characters get pages on their own, but only if it's limited to the notable ones, as I don't think there wouldn't be much information for "generic" characters such as Koroku and Nagayasu (I think one page will do just fine). --超龍「對話」 16:57, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
- I like the idea of having separate articles and real life comparison. But as Chao said, it should be limited to the most significantly notable characters. Also, I forgot to note down the quotes. So, if you plan to work on the articles, it will be great if you can note down the quotes as well (especially during the kingdom battles). I will try to do it myself as well but it is not possible for me to do it for the characters who appear early in the game, unless I reset my progress. ♫♪ エイディニズ ♪♫ 17:05, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
One character's name seems to be in question
Do we use Aya or Ayagozen? Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 01:41, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
- Hmm...Gozen is a honorific, so her name is "Aya". Guess we'll go with that. Ataro (talk) 01:51, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
- I'm kind of going with Aya. It's like N. We still call him N, but we make a mention on his page what his full name is. ★Jo the Marten★ ಠ_ಠ♥ 02:03, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
- I'll go with whatever the game calls her (which seems to be Aya). The official site had some inconsistencies with the kingdom names (e.g. Aurora/Primus, Greenleaf/Arbora/Sylvan). And we had at least two other characters (Kai and Ina) whose names were shortened. The only problem with this now is that there's another character named Aya, so I suggest moving that to "Aya (Kanto)", and have Ayagozen's page be called as "Aya (Ransei)". --超龍「對話」 05:05, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
- We'll cross that bridge once the characters start getting their articles (I'm pretty sure we all have ideas on how to handle everything involved with the region; what if she doesn't get a full-blown article?). That said, there are quite a number of minor characters that have historical relevance (and not simply just the ones with profiles and unique art). Would we be adding that information here or should there be a separate "facts you didn't want to know connecting Conquest to Japanese history" page, since there's no telling how much it would take up and how much we could slip in to other pages with their connections (since some seem entirely unrelated to any of the "important" characters). Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 11:58, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
- My plan was to make a page for every kingdom. We can put character bios on there perhaps? I need to get back into playing this game. I have a lot of stuff planned out for it, I was just going slowly so I could record character names and teams, but this page will help with that. I need to update the Sidegame template with a box for Conquest. I'll upload a bunch of sprites, and all the Pokemon too. I'll just need help with identifying some of the characters, if some of you'd like to sit down and help with that sometime. :) ★Jo the Marten★ ಠ_ಠ♥ 18:54, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

Free Warriors
I think that while they have a "start" location, they don't necessarily stick around there. Morikiyo (listed for Viperia) and Tomonobu (listed for Illusio) can both also be found in Cragspur. Do we give the free Warriors their own section and then give them a "found in" whatever, or do we put their entry under whichever kingdoms they can be found in? As in Morikiyo would be listed under both the Kingdom of Viperia and the Kingdom of Cragspur (and whatever other kingdoms he's found in). Granted, the second option will kill the page, but throwing it out there anyway. Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 15:43, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
- From what I can tell, any non-leader Warlord (any with silver backgrounds instead of gold) can randomly be found in any nation, and don't really have any discernable allegiance. Of course, that might just be when you get to the special episodes. --RiverAura 03:42, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
- Boes that also go for the Warlords' initial vassels? Because you'd think those guys would stick with their initial kingdoms, given they all seem pretty dedicated to their lords. Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 13:09, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
- If you mean the ones with the gold backgrounds (like Yukimura or Aya), they stick with specific kingdoms (I believe the game refers to them as junior Warlord leaders or something to that extent). I was just referring to the regular warriors (indicated by a silver background).--RiverAura 02:00, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

Organization
I think it would be better to sort the page first into two categories- Warlords (those with unique portraits and gold backgrounds) and Warriors or Free Warriors (those with generic portraits and silver backgrounds), then list them alphabetically. Sorting by kingdom makes little sense, considering how many free warriors can be found in various places at random, and how certain warlords (I'm looking at you, Ranmaru) can start in more than one different kingdom depending on the story being played. Alternatively, they could be listed in the default order from the game's gallery, but I think that would be less intuitive for anyone who's not looking something up while they have the game in their hands... --ACDragonMaster (talk) 20:13, 22 July 2012 (UTC)
Error
There appears to be some sort of problem with the third-to-last image in the gallery at the bottom. Drake Clawfang (talk) 13:39, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
Gender
Scene many of the game mechanics uses gender for many things (notably:Cupid, Viper's Bite, and the Ransei's Greatest Beauty stories) should the genders be noted for each Warrior?TrainerX493 (talk) 07:26, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
"The reason he was chosen to be the player's first ally, apart from Oichi"
I think it's random. I mean, I got Rikyū (with Run Away Darumaka) as first Warrior. Marked +-+-+ (talk) 12:27, 14 August 2013 (UTC)
Female Merchant attire patterning
In regards to what is currently the article's only trivia point, the character design used for the female Merchant (green hair) appears to feature deliberate patterning as well. If anyone is able to make out what it supposed to depict (if anything), please add it. Yvnr (talk) 13:48, 16 August 2013 (UTC)
Stats Template
So a few days ago I made a template mockup to replace the tables on this page. I believe I covered everything, including if the warrior has either one or two main types. If anyone wants to give it look-over, I was wondering if it appears ready to be moved and used, or if I'm still missing something. Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 23:11, 4/6/2014 (UTC)
Moving the Historical Role information
While the "Historical Role" column certainly has interesting information, it's not something that's useful in gameplay, and it stretches the table quite a bit on mobile. I think we should move it out of the table in some way. For example:
- Idea 1: Create a "Historical Roles" section on this page with its own table, where the columns are just the icon, warrior name, maybe the types, and the Historical Role. I'm thinking we keep types since the types often indicate an allegiance or family relationship between characters (example: Asahi's specialties are Fire and Ground, and Historical Role says she is the half-sister of Hideyoshi, a Warlord that specializes in Fire and Fighting. Her perfect link otherwise has nothing to do with Fire.)
- Idea 2: Create a separate page for Historical Role data, which would then have a table similar to the idea above.
Any thoughts on this? --Boblers (talk) 06:01, 10 June 2023 (UTC)
- I like the idea of making a separate page for the Historical Role data. The page is pretty long already, and adding another table that's the same length as the main one here feels a little redundant. Plus, I noticed while skimming the table that a handful of roles have trivia written directly into the table (explaining why some rows are ridiculously tall), and having a separate page for "Historical roles of Pokémon Conquest characters" or something would make it easier for people to include trivia regarding the significance of certain roles on the character's role in the game - either in the page's trivia section or even in a column of the table dedicated to stuff like that. Otherwise, I don't know what's important to include in the new table (never played Conquest myself). Storm Aurora (talk) 01:20, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
- I've drafted up a concept for the page in my userspace here: User:Boblers/Historical roles of Pokémon Conquest characters. Originally I was just going to mention the whole "type = relationship to a warlord" thing in trivia, but with this being its own page, I decided to explore it further by sorting the warriors into groups based on their role. Kept the type column, since it correlates well with the roles. Also kept the perfect link column, as one of the role descriptions uses the perfect link for a trivia point.
- Mobile was still getting some vertical stretching though, so I switched to a two-rows-per-warrior approach, where their role spans multiple columns below the character name/icon, type, and perfect links. Gives the text more room to breathe, I think - although it might look a little weird on wide/desktop displays. --Boblers (talk) 10:51, 14 June 2023 (UTC)
