Pokéteca was a Spanish Pokémon wiki, originally created as an extension of PkStation. The name Pokéteca derives from the portmanteau of Pokémon and biblioteca ("library" in Spanish). Pokéteca used mainly the Iberian dialect of Spanish, though there were several Latin American users.
Pokéteca was a former member of Encyclopædiæ Pokémonis, a multi-lingual group of wikis documenting all aspects of Pokémon.
History
Pokéteca was created on August 8, 2008 by Habieru, who desired to start a Pokémon wiki for Spanish-speaking fans of the series, and was made public on September 1 the same year.
Pokéteca, sometimes shortened to "Teca" by users, was admitted to Encyclopædiæ Pokémonis on August 19, 2009. Its Encyclopædiæ Pokémonis logo was brown, to represent the mascot Hoothoot.
The site continued to operate after the closure of PkStation in 2011. However, Pokéteca would soon follow suit and closed in August 2013, redirecting to a 403 page if accessed. The site soon returned in 2015, solely containing an animated background of Hoothoot's head, until the domain expired at the end of the year. Pokéteca was soon removed as a member of Encyclopædiæ Pokémonis in January 2016. The domain is currently owned by a domain name company.
Another Spanish-language Pokémon Wiki, WikiDex has since replaced Pokéteca as the Spanish language member of Encyclopædiæ Pokémonis.
Staff
The staff of the wiki consisted of Bureaucrats Habieru, Hiro, Sumori Hose, and Shadow and Pokétecarios Kosen, Frika, Arqui, and CoolPikachu!.
