Marcello
Marcello from 50 years ago

Marcello (Japanese: マルチェロ Marcello) is a character of the day who appeared in Moving Pictures. He lives with his wife Sophia at the Sunflora Lodge, which they operate together.

Marcello and Sophia married 50 years ago and took a picture with hundreds of Sunflora. They continued this tradition for the next 49 wedding anniversaries. On their 50th anniversary, however, the weather was particularly cold and the Sunflora never appeared at the usual south slope location.

Ash was able to use his Sun Stone that he won as a prize in the Bug-Catching Contest to evolve a recently rescued Sunkern into a Sunflora. This Sunflora went on to call the other Sunflora over, allowing Marcello and Sophia to maintain their anniversary tradition, and Todd took the commemorative snapshot.

Over the years, Marcello and his wife Sophia had befriended multiple Sunflora after taking a wedding picture with a field of Sunflora behind them. The flowery and bright backdrop led Marcello and Sophia to start a tradition of taking such photos during their wedding anniversary for the next 49 years.

The couple's 50th anniversary was threatened because of the cold weather in the area. However, a Sunflora, which Ash just evolved, called hundreds of other Sunflora, allowing Marcello and Sophia to take the photo.

None of the Sunflora's moves are known.
