Shadow Mewtwo (Japanese: ダークミュウツー Dark Mewtwo) is an unlockable Battle Pokémon in the fighting game Pokkén Tournament. It is a Technical style fighter.

Upon activating Synergy Burst, Shadow Mewtwo will Mega Evolve into Shadow Mega Mewtwo X.

Biology

Shadow Mewtwo is a regular Mewtwo that has been corrupted by a Shadow Synergy Stone. Instead of being white, it is instead a very dark gray color. Its tail is also dark gray, although at the tip it is tinted orange and has a crystaline texture, due to the Shadow Synergy Stone. The Shadow Synergy Stone that is corrupting it is embedded in its left shoulder (right from forward POV). Besides this it appears to be identical to an uncorrupted Mewtwo.

Forms

Shadow Mewtwo can Mega Evolve into Mega Shadow Mewtwo X. It is currently unknown if it has a corresponding Y Mega Evolution.

Mega Shadow Mewtwo X is extremely similar to regular Mega Mewtwo X, although it retains its dark gray coloration from its base form. The Shadow Synergy Stone embedded in its shoulder grows much taller, and it also gains orange crystals on each of its shoulders and horns. The ridges on its arms begin to glow orange, as well as the seams across its chest and between its torso and tail, and it gains a similar glowing seam on each of its lower legs. It is shown to be able to stretch its limbs to extreme lengths, just like its non-shadow counterpart.

In the past, Anne was almost possessed by a Shadow Synergy Stone but was saved by Mewtwo, whom the Shadow Synergy Stone took control of and merged with instead. Under the influence of the Shadow Synergy Stone, Shadow Mewtwo traveled around Ferrum, draining Gaia power from the normal Synergy Stones and continually increasing its own power. Shadow Mewtwo is eventually defeated in battle by the player, after which Anne uses the power of the Synergy Stone contained in her brooch to separate the Shadow Synergy Stone from Mewtwo and restore it to normal.

Mega Shadow Mewtwo X

Mega Shadow Mewtwo X in Pokkén Tournament

When activating Synergy Burst, and during its boss fight in Pokkén Tournament's story mode, Shadow Mewtwo will Mega Evolve into its own version of Mega Mewtwo X, Mega Shadow Mewtwo X, also sometimes called Shadow Mega Mewtwo X.

In this form, its Standard moves deal more damage and have improved properties (such as being faster, bigger, invulnerable, etc.), and its Pokémon moves no longer consume HP. Additionally, this form grants access to Dark Nova, Shadow Mewtwo's burst attack, which is one of the most powerful in the game.

As a Boss, Shadow Mewtwo starts in and permanently maintains this form. Additionally, it has several moves exclusive to the boss fight, taken from other playable characters, including Mewtwo's Fire Punch, Thunder Punch, and Ice Punch combo, and Suicune's Blizzard.[citation needed]
