Staravia (Japanese: ムクバード Mukubird) is a dual-type Normal/Flying Pokémon.
It evolves from Starly starting at level 14, and evolves into Staraptor starting at level 34.
Biology
Physiology
Staravia has a small M pattern on its chest, likely for its Japanese name of Mukubird. Its eyes are bent inward to give an intimidating look to make its prey wary. They also have a crest on top of it's head.
Gender differences
The gray spot on a female's forehead is smaller.
Special abilities
Starvia have large wings that allow them to take flight for a long period of time. These wings can also allow Staravia to fly with much agility, which can come in handy when they are flying through forests.
Behavior
Staravia tend to live in large flocks with other Staravia or with other bird Pokémon, such as Starly and Swellow. If two rival Staravia meet, they may fight ferociously with each other. They spend a large amount of time each day preening their feathers, searching for food, or spending time with others of the colony.
Habitat
Staravia live in forests or plains.
Diet
- Main article: Pokémon food
Staravia mainly eat Template:Type2 Pokémon, which they hunt for in flocks. They seem to have an affinity with the Yache Berry as well, as they are sometimes seen with this berry.
In the anime
A Staravia made a cameo in Following a Maiden's Voyage.
Ash's Starly evolved into a Staravia in A Staravia is Born.

Sprites
Trivia
- Staravia's Platinum sprite is similar to its Diamond and Pearl sprite, the only difference its beak pointed straight instead of down.
- Staravia having the almost same sprite with a game from the same generation is a trait shared with Pokémon from Generation II, where a few of them have the same sprites in all Generation II games.
Origin
Staravia is based on an adult starling.
Name origin
Starling and avian, which refers to birds. Mukubird is derived from 椋鳥 mukudori, gray starling, and the English word bird. Its French name, Etourvol, comes from étourneau and vol.
