Medicham (Japanese: チャーレム Charem) is a dual-type Fighting/Psychic Pokémon.
It evolves from Meditite starting at level 37.
Biology
Physiology
Medicham's position of its humanshape body resembles a yoga practitioner, with a gray body and what seems to be large red and yellow pants or shorts. It wears some sort of headpiece that is also red with three yellow spots in the center. Its large focused eyes are slightly covered by the headpiece, and its red lips seem to be in a rounded or puckered position.
Gender differences
The growth on top of Medicham's head is shorter on a female.
Special abilities
Medicham's meditation have caused it to develop a sixth sense, allowing for extreme focus as well as elegant movement. Its agility allows it to deliver devastating hits to its opponents.
Behavior
Medicham do daily Template:M2 to hone their spiritual power. In the process they have gotten psychic powers such as reading people's minds at will. Because they are so focused in meditation, they will often go without food for a whole month or eat only little. They meditate in the wild and are known to use bushes, rocks or anything in nature to hide themselves from humans and other Pokémon. When Medicham are in battle, they will use dance-like movement to dodge attacks and then counterattack fiercely.
Habitat
Medicham is said to live atop mountains similar to the mountainous region of Tibet. Dwelling atop harsh mountains in the silence of the cold, thin air is a part of its physical and mental training.
Diet
- Main article: Pokémon food
It survives on only one berry per month.
In the anime
Medicham first appeared during the Fallarbor Town Contest under the ownership of Grace during Pros and Con Artists and Come What May.
Template:Greta battled against Ash with a Medicham in Wheel of Frontier. The Meditation Pokémon was literally crushed by Ash's Snorlax.
Medicham and its pre-evolution were owned by a family of traveling circus performers in Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea. The two Meditation Pokémon used Psychic to make balls of water retain their form.
A Medicham was a member of Team Meanies in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Team Go-Getters out of the Gate!.
In the manga
Medicham made a cameo in Ruby's Normal Rank Beauty on Verdanturf City

Trivia
- Pure Power, Medicham's ability, gives it an absolute maximum of 480 Attack — surpassed only by a Marowak, holding a Thick Club, and Deoxys's Attack Forme.
- Even though Medicham is said to live atop high, cold mountains, the only Template:Type2 move Medicham is able to learn is Ice Punch, a move many other non-Ice-types can learn as well.
- Medicham holds a very unique type combination. Even after the physical/special split, the Fighting-type is still known for its excellence in physical attack, while the Template:Type2 still contains the best Special Attack stats of all Pokémon. However, Medicham itself is known for its physical prowess rather than special abilities.
- Oddly, Fighting/Psychic is a great type combination against other Fighting-types, being resistant to both Fighting and Rock, their main attacking moves, and scoring STABed, super-effective Psychic hits.
- Medicham is one of the few Pokémon that suffered when Shadow Ball became a Special-based attack, since many others, especially most of its fellow Psychic-types, gained a strong special-based attack against other Psychic- and Template:Type2s. Instead, Medicham gained the now-physical elemental punches, as well as physical Psychic STAB in Psycho Cut and Zen Headbutt, making Weezing no longer a threat to Medicham.
Origin
It appears to have been based on a practitioner of yoga.
Name origin
Medicham's name may be a combination of meditate and champion. Its Japanese name may be based on charm, challenge or champ.
